Fasting / 5:2 diet

800 calls instead of 500?

I am considering trying this 5.2 diet, is it true that Dr Mosley has upped the calories on fast days to 800 instead of the previously recommended 500 for women?

I'd be grateful for some advice about this from any 5.2 experts? The newer calorie recommendation seems far more do-able.

I'm only starting out so hopefully someone more experienced will know, but I read this recently which inspired me to give 5:2 another go. This is my 2nd week of fasting, I've stuck to 500 on 2 fast days and gone a little over on the other.
I imagine that 800cals will make weight loss slower, but if it seems more achievable then could be worth a try?

If you eat less calories than your body needs to keep going then you will lose weight. The bigger the calorie gap the quicker the weight loss.
800 is probably still a significant decrease on what you need, so as long as you don't over eat on the other days you will lose weight.

I did around 600 to lose weight on my fast days.
