Hi I am almost 30 and now that I am all finished with babies and breastfeeding it's time to lose some weight!!! I have about 20kg to lose and the 5:2 diet has worked for me in the past. Is there any ladies who want to join me and make 2017 our year?
I really need some help to keep motivated.

Yep, i will join you - need someone to shout at me to keep me on track 😊

I am starting on Jan 1st, doing 5:2. I did it a cou0le of years ago and found it reasonably easy and effective, so doing it again.

I am also sorting out a more constructive exercise programme that i can stick to. I walk for miles every day with the dogs and think that should be enough, but, of course it is not, so adding some yoga and 10 minute exercise routines to the mix.

Will be great to have somewhere to check into and see how everyone is doing and pinch their brilliant ideas

I'm so excited you both want to join me Grin I am in Australia so if I don't reply straight away its because of the time difference, it's 8pm now! I have one more Xmas dinner in 2 nights so I am going to start of Monday as well!
I have done the 5:2 and 4:3 a few times and lost about 10kg each time.... it's my motivation that I need help with Blush
Thanks tooold and double for being my buddies !! I hope I can give you some ideas and visa versa.

Oh Gin, that is why i am waiting until the New Year. We have so much crap in the house, biscuits, chocolates, mince pies etc., i am steadfastly working my way through them all so there will be no temptation when i start eating properly.

How do you 'do' your 5:2? I have no problem missing breakfast, so tend to just eat one meal on the fasting days. It is the glass of wine i miss most 😣 Last time i did it, i bought some lovely sparkling elderflower water and drank it from a wine glass. Worked for me!

Ideally, i would like to lose 10 kg.

I find it easier to only have a nutra bullet with all fresh veggies for dinner instead of a small meal. I find that if I eat whole foods then I can't stop thinking about food all night lol. I put in 1 cucumber, carrot, apple, celery and a handful of spinach. It makes up 2 large cups and keep me full overnight. I have a Coke Zero at lunch on my fast days to keep me going... but I am really trying to cut them out too, I have heard they are really bad for you??
I had to choke the first few shakes down Grin but am used to them now.
My biggest problem is over eating on non fast days. It's like I have to make up for not eating the day before even though I'm not really hungry! Do you have this problem??

No, strangely, just the opposite, i am more aware of what i am eating and tend to eat less carbs ( which seems to be what piles the weight in me).
My problem is that we have a motorhome, so go off for three or four day trips and i cannot stick to a healthy diet then, lack of willpower, i know 😶 There are too many lovely cream teas, farmshops with delicious home made pies and coffee shops, where just a small cookie with the coffee is obligatory. Add to that the pub meals in the evening and i am screwed!

I definitely need to give more thought to staying on track, whilst still enjoying myself, when we are away........

That sounds lovely tooold. Sweets are my down fall too!
I read something interesting on another thread...
The No S Diet. No sweets, no snacks and no seconds, except for days starting with S. I might try to use that as a guide to help me with my non fast days.

My fast days are VERY boring ! I usually have stir fry veg for lunch and dinner, drink about 4l of squash too. Then I go to bed after the baby 😂
Lucky over eating on my fast days are a downfall for me too, I have decided to use mfp to have more of a control over my eating on these days.

I do my fast days when I am at work, its so much easier for me there. When I am at home with my little ones I am constantly around food and of course my dh had never had to diet a day in his life!
After about a month of doing 5:2 I am usually fine and even enjoy making food for my family that I won't be eating (weird right Blush) but it's hard getting to that point.
I'm off to bed now... Thankyou all so much for joining me! I can't wait to start our weight loss journey Grin

Hi luckybee
Yes the app is good isn't it. I was thinking of doing 4:3 for a while too, so that's good. We could motivate each other on fast days. I was thinking Mon Wed & Friday to have a day break and weekends free. How about you?

I'm joining in too. Will be mostly vegetarian and low GI and throw 5:2 in to really kick start it along. I have masses to lose.

I have 4 stone to lose to keep me safely in the healthy weight bracket. I didn't realise you can actually eat on the 2 fasting days, i just googled it.

AM started on Sunday.

I am starting on Sunday too cat.

Well, i am starting the healthy eating, but my fasting days will be Tuesday and Wednesday.

Just as a note of interest if anyone is interested, i did a one off diet about six months ago. It claims you can lose a stone in a week, and i did it more as a challenge. I did lose 12lbs in the week, so it is a great kick starter! I actually found it really easy but i am a bit of a masochist Was toying with the idea of doing it again to get myself moving, but have decided to just stick with 5:2 for now.

Good luck everyone, off to check out this app!

Happy New Year everyone! Here we go 😉

Today, i intend to weigh and measure myself and post them on this thread as a way to keep myself on track (will force myself to update weekly - hoping i can shame myself into keeping it up)!

I am clearing out the crap, to remove the munchies temptation and meal planning for the coming week.

Bye bye lovely wine 😢😢😭😭

Can I join too? I'm 5'10" and weigh roughly 12 - 13 stone. This is the heaviest I've ever been and would like to get back to 10-11 stone. Happy new year to you all.

Tomorrow is my first official fast day, and I am going to the gym in the morning. I'll be fasting 3 days this week to hopefully kickstart my weightless.

Hi everyone, I am starting today. I need to lose 14 pounds. HAve just recently been diagnosed with hypertension, have started medication and want to be as healthy as possible so want to to see if weight loss can make a difference (it may not in my case). I have given up alcohol and will stop buying crap food . Will be eating all non processed food and sticking to 5: 2 except for this week when I will be 4:3 .
Well, that's my plan, I made a solemn promise to myself that I will stick with it.
