Hello everyone....
(I typed out the post below last Thursday but never actually posted it to the forum!)
I’ve been reading everything I can possibly get my hands on in the last week about the 5:2 diet and finally started yesterday! (Wednesday 8th June)
My first FD went ok I think.......finished at 500 calories but stopped eating at 10.30am!! I think I will push out my eating time till later next time!
So today is my first NFD. MFP gives me a TDEE of 1890 and if I stick to plan I’ll be closing my kitchen at 1869 cals.
These threads are just fantastic. The success stories are so inspirational and the daily hints and tips I know will be very valuable to me.
A bit about me.....well I’m 40, live in Ireland, married and mum to 2 little girls (3 and 2.......11 month age gap!) and work full time so we are a busy lot! I have been trying to lose 2 stone for ............wait for it.......20 years!
I was 12 stone 10 pounds when I found out I was pregnant with my first baby and I weighed in yesterday at 12 stone 12 .........I seem to be very good at maintaining this weight but I am two stone overweight! My BMI yesterday was 28.19.
Like a lot of people here, I’ve tried every diet under the sun. I did get down to 11 stone 7 last summer but then my hubby and I both turned 40 so we celebrated for 40 days and 40 nights and I put all the weight back on!
I think I might be a little obsessional about my weight but I suppose that is a whole other thread.
10 stone 13 would be my goal weight. I’m hoping 5:2 will be the way I’ll get there.
I usually start a diet on a Monday and do really well until Friday. Then I just go all out and eat (and drink way too much wine) all weekend and then I’m off the wagon for a while and might hop on again 2 weeks later......yadda yadda yadda.......
I used to run a bit – maybe 5km three or four times a week – again I have never been consistently running so it was always difficult to improve. I’ve decided today to enter our local half marathon at the end of August!!! That should keep me focused.
Looking forward to getting to know you all through this process.............I hope I’ll still be here next week!
I’m planning my second fast day tomorrow. Then on Saturday I’m having a babyshower for my best friend so I’ll probably go over TDEE (with wine consumption) but I have allowed myself this day ‘off plan’ and will do another FD on Monday.

So this is my second post today!
Hello everyone again!
I didn’t have a second fast day last Friday so I fasted yesterday. It went fine – I was having a very rare lazy day (girls in crèche/party and I was off work) so I found fasting actually very easy because I was stuck in a good book for most of the day and doing housework too. I was hungry last night though but kept telling myself that it was only one evening to get through.
Now, my only problem is I would have loved to weigh myself today but I broke my bathroom scales into a million bits on Saturday. I was washing the bathroom floor and put scales on the bath............left the room and about 15 mins later........well the crash.......I jumped out of my skin almost.....glass scales had fallen and broke into a million bits..........so is that some sort of message!!!!
I think I will buy another scales today........I do feel after 7 days on this plan with 2 successful fast days that my stomach feels a bit flatter......I might have gone over slightly on my NFD’s though..........that seems to be my issue. I’m better on FD’s than NFD’s!
1890 calories doesn’t seem to leave me ‘nicely full’ ...............but then maybe that's from years of overindulging. I will probably find that different kinds of 'better' foods keep me fuller....so will probably have to stay away from processed stuff in order to stay full.
I wonder do thin people just eat to their TDEE and feel full and satisfied......or do they eat more some days and less on other days?
Anyway, will report back with week one progress once I buy a new scales!
Sorry for the ‘extremely’ long post!
