Hi,

This is my fifth fast day and although I am finding it fairly easy to cope with feeling hungry, I am getting terrible headaches.

I know I need to up my water intake which should help, however, I don't drink any less on non fast days but have no headaches. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what helped you?

Thanks in advance.

Yep, I had the same problem initially. I increased my fluid intake because normally most of our fluid intake actually comes from the food we eat. So if you are eating less, you have to drink more to compensate. I sip on herbal teas and drink lots of water, the headaches have gone away.

I'm on my first fast day, and had a headache earlier. I put it down to caffeine withdrawal as I had no tea (my mom had to fast once for medical reasons and the lack of caffeine made her quite lethargic and headachey at first).

Yes, I had this. I started putting a teaspoon of sugar in my tea twice a day (about 32 calories), and this helped - whether it was the liquid or the sugar, I can't tell you. I also found the headaches stopped completely sometime in the second month. When I went on holiday and took a break from 5:2, I found that when I went back to fasting, the headaches returned for the first two weeks. Then went again. ???
