Hi, I had to take the Morning After pill 3 weeks after giving birth to my son. I am exclusively breastfeeding . After taking the MAP I had a heavy period, now the following month I don't have any period. I have done a pregnancy test and negative. Could my periods have stopped as breastfeeding- is this normal? Any advice , thanks :)

Breast feeding can stop your period because your body only wants to support one baby at a time. But people can get pregnant while bf and before their period returns. I'm bf my 13 month old and my period hasn't returned yet

Breastfeeding can delay the return of fertility but... only under some strict criteria. Exclusive breastfeeding, no bottles, teats, dummies and under six months. Some women find there periods take quite a long time to return while breastfeeding.

Personally taking the MAP while breastfeeding made my period return but I was 18 months post birth so it could have just been time.
I’m your circumstances I’d do a pregnancy test to give you piece of mind.

You probably had a bleed as a consequence of Taking the MAP, and your periods have not returned yet.

However as you ovulate before your period it is entirely possible to get pregnant before your 1st period arrives.

The majority of women exclusively breastfeeding do see a significant delay in the return of their periods, but it varies wildly and done return within weeks, others it can be a year or two if still feeding.

I was 15 months PP when mine returned.
