Some questions about vasectomy experience.

Can anyone who had one or OH has had one answer some question for me and DH please?

1. Did you go no scalpel or other?
2. How long until a return to work?
3. Looking back, would you recommend as a perm contraceptive solution?
4. How long until you got the all clear?

Also, if we chose this option it will be private as our NHS trust don't perform them on men under 35.
The costs seems to vary hugely, is there a huge difference in procedure? We've had quotes for the 'full package' from £400 - £1.2k, we obviously want DH in sage hands but would rather not spend huge amounts!

Scalpel was only option offered, done on NHS

1. How long until a return to work?

2 weeks: he had severe post op bleeding and infection. Couldn't walk.

It hasn't failed us yet!

1. How long until you got the all clear?

3 months iirc.

It wasn't the ideal procedure for him due to complications but after the initial problems it has been great for lots of carefree sex.
