Coil withdrawal, major bleeding, is this normal?

I had a coil put in for abnormal bleeding but after 4 months of bleeding every day I went back on Thursday and had it removed. Ever since I have bled but it’s been a lot. Needed to change almost hourly and it’s starting to scare me. Is this normal? Bloody GP didn’t mention this at all so I will call tomorrow but not feeling great at the moment and feeling a bit scared. Anyone had experience of this please?

That is quite heavy. I certainly bled a lot after my latest coil insertion/removal but I heard that if you are soaking through a pad in an hour you should seek medical help. I would probably give 111 a call just to be safe.

Earlier today was much better and lasted 4 hours without having to change, tonight it’s got worse. I’m alone with 4 kids so can’t get anywhere. Think I may go to bed as that usually slows it too. I wish I’d never gone near the bloody thing, it’s been an awful 4 months, I’m normally a very calm, sane person but I feel this has really messed me up. So angry as all I got was a leaflet after having it put in and my GP last week said I should have had a ‘consultation’ telling me all possible side effects before having it put in. I feel GP’s see this as a ‘quick fix’ to any irregular bleeding. Thanks for the reply although I think I feel more scared!!

I bled pretty heavily for two weeks after removal and was told this was perfectly normal. I would t worry but just demand to be seen tomorrow or try and get yourself to a walk in family planning clinic if there are any in your area. They could maybe even give u noreyhisterone to try and make the bleeding lighter if nothing else. Good luck!

Thank you Honey, it seems to have really lessened today which is such a relief, think I got a bit scared last night! Hopefully all will settle soon.
