If the contraceptive implant was not for you what long term contraception do you use?

Hello, I have an 7 month old dd and my periods have returned as has my libido so I need to get on some new contraception as neither DP or I are keen on condoms.

Previously I had the contraceptive implant Implanon, I had it for 3 years but I bled constantly after having it in and had to take microgynon pills everyday to combat this, it really affected my mood and I am not keen to repeat the experience. I have been on microgynon pills as a standalone contraceptive but I am just not good at taking them at the same time everyday and the effect from the hormones was the same as the implant.

I would just pick a copper coil and have it over and done with but since having DD my periods have been much heavier and much more painful than before I had her, and I don't really want to make it any worse. The Mirena coil sounds good, but is it? I would prefer to have no periods, but do the hormones have the same effects as the pill?

I imagine how contraception affects you depends on your own natural balance of hormones, so I assume someone who had a bad experience with the implant would be similar to me. So if you had the implant and hated it what contraception do you now use?

I use the copper coil and have since before children. My body hates any hormonal contraceptives.

My periods have been the same. Just had my first period and was the same. DS2 is 11 months and it has been no different than before. Got it put in when he was 3 months old.
