Copper coil vs Mirena

Hi all.
Yesterday I went for my bog standard pill check (combined pill), and had the bomb shell dropped on me that I can no longer take it as I've had a few migraines. I can finish the pack I'm on, but need to make a decision on where to go from here, contraception wise. I can't use anything with oestrogen.
I started leaning toward an IUD, then after some NHS reading thought that the Mirena sounded great (why have the heavier bleeding of a copper coil when you don't need to?!). Then I did a bit more reading of people's experiences, and I feel like my only options are a rock and a hard place! For both types, I'm reading horror stories. Copper- horrific bleeding, mood swings and loss of libido (despite the lack of hormones). Mirena- weight gain, mood swings, loss of libido.
I was on antidepressants all last year. I'm struggling with this 'mum of two (psychopaths)' business, and my libido has been zero for a while now. I thought about staying hormone free, but then found stories claiming copper was just as bad for depression and sex drive. I don't want to do anything that's going to make a bad situation worse, and put more strain on my marriage.
I'm hoping that you guys can give me some honest insight into these two methods, both good and bad experiences (searching the internet tends to give just the bad stuff) that will help me get a fair opinion and make a decision.

I have had a Mirena for 9 years. Good things: it is easy, I don't have to remember anything, I have very light periods, I have not got pregnant when i didn't want to. Bad things: I have put on weight, I have low libido and I do have mood swings. Am I convinced they are all due to the Mirena? I don't know... Thing is many women have a Mirena after their last baby, but the reality is they then have small kids, which is hard work. I am tired a lot, which also affects my mood, which affects my relationship. I think I have put on weight because I eat too much. I eat too much to deal with stress. I don't like being overweight and not thinking I can possibly look attractive affects my libido. So my relationship suffers, again. How much of that is genuinely attributable to the Mirena I don't know. I'm not willing to go back to full-blown, painful, leaky periods so the Mirena is staying. I wouldn't touch a copper coil with a barge pole, thanks.

I've never tried mirena because I don't get on well with anything with hormones.
I was on the pill but had to stop taking it due to migraines. I had the 10 year copper coil inserted in February. So far so good.
I had a little bit of bleeding when it was first put in. Then I had 2 heavy and painful periods but since then I've been fine. Periods have settled and are not heavy. They last a few days longer than they used to so I now bleed for 8 days but the bleeding is light for half of them.
I suffer with anxiety and depression and have been on ADs for a year. I've not noticed any worsening of my depression and I've not had any mood swings. Libido seems normal so far.

I had copper coil in for 3-4months after being on the pill for many years, everything fine apart from really bad cramp for 2/3wks & bleeding constantly with the odd day here & there not bleeding (not heavy or painful) sex drive still good. Decided to try the mirena coil, within a wk I suffered backache, headaches & terrible mood swings, also no sex drive at all. Doc says it takes up to 3months to get into your system I had to get it took out after 7/8wks as the mood swings were getting worse. They can both affect people in differant ways, hope this helps in some way.

Mine is copper. Periods longer - probably 6/7 days when they were 5/6 so not much difference. And a bit heavier but they were heavy to start with

Hiya ladies, Does the copper coil cause weight gain or hormonal changes?

I've had both, no problems with either, very occasional light periods, no severe cramps etc

BUT

I did become pregnant with DS with the copper coil in situ. It was removed at about 9 weeks with only a tiny bit of bleeding. Had the Mirena after DS and DD were born and no problems whilst using it.
