I have. Fitting was fine, felt a bit odd for a few days, periods were quite heavy for a good few months but now I wouldn't know I've got it.

Yep I've had mine for 3 years now.

Getting it fitted was just a little uncomfortable rather than painful. I took some pain killers about half an hour before and it was over before I knew it.

I've had three copper coils - the first one was pre-children so was quite painful, but the second and third ones (between kids) were fine. Periods were heavier afterwards.

Peri-menopausal now, so switched to Mirena to help with the symptoms.

Prefer the copper coil though.

Sorry should read 'quite painful to fit'

Like others the fitting was more uncomfortable than horribly painful, over very quickly. Possibly all in my head, but for the first couple of weeks I was really aware of it being there, heavy and long periods for about 6 months, but did settle down eventually. Although not perfect, by far the best contraceptive I've used

Perfect thanks ladies! I was hoping that would be the case. I've had 2 children already so hopefully will just be a bit uncomfortable

I've had one on and off for 8 years (removed twice for ttc). Have had no problems with it. It's a little uncomfortable going in, as pp said, especially pre-DC. Mild cramps for a few hours afterwards but no other side effects except heavier periods.

Does the copper coil mess with moods and weight x

I dont think it does. Thats the reason ive had one put in as i didnt want to be dealing with different hormones in me from bitter experience with the pill and other forms of hormonal contraception. Even though ive heard it might make pms worse because of the more heavy periods!!id like to know if thats true. Im happy just knowing i have nothing else interfering with my already crazy moods!
