Family planning

Non stop bleeding on Feanolla Desogestrel pill.

Started taking Feonello Desogestrel 75mg about 5 weeks ago. I've been bleeding constantly for 2 weeks since the time my period would normally start. My bleed before taking Feonello lasted a week. I wasn't on any type of hormone birth control or coil prior to beginning the Feonello.

Is this to be expected? The leaflet does describe bleeding as a side effect, but that's all the info I could glean. Apart from anything else, it's farkin inconvenient!

Anyone else have experience of this particular pill?

I bled for 8 weeks, sometimes like a heavy period, sometimes just enough for a panty liner (and to be an irritation!) Then it stopped for 3 weeks followed by the period from hell which lasted a week. I'd had enough by then and I've been on a new combined pill for a week without any problems so far.
Miserable, but the most effective contraception ever - I didn't feel like going anywhere near my H.

Oh no! And yes, some days are heavier than others, with cramps. Last few days it seems to be lessening, with no pain.

I'm also peri-menopausal, and the dr, said this should help with my borderline hormone levels. And you're right - effective contraception indeed, because I've noticed a definite loss of libido. Sad

My doctor said I might have symptoms like irregular bleeding for up to 6 months but then it should settle. I'd only gone on that pill to try stop the weight gain I got with my normal one, I didnt have any real reason not to switch back. Wasn't prepared to wait another 3 months to see if things settled down.
Sorry its not a more positive story!

Well the bleeding seems to be calming down. For now...

I bled for two months when I went on it. Then every month or so I would bleed for three weeks plus. I just got two weeks into this latest bleed and I've stopped taking them. I can't take it anymore! I am now bleeding heavily but I'm hoping it's just a post pill period and will pass. I too like a PP have no libido whatsoever which is a problem. We have a ten month old and want to try again in the new year but I would like some good, non consequential sex before then!

Hi I'm on this too and experiencing lots of spotting and a period of sorts every couple of weeks. It's better than Loestrin though which I was prescribed before. That made me feel really tired, miserable and gave me a racing heart and a dizzy head! I haven't had any side effects with this one apart from cramps and bleeding and I'm hoping this will settle. I'm 44 and have been peri for 2 years. Lots of spotting- I've had 2 ultrasounds but they can't find any reason so told me it must be my hormones! What fun!! x

I'm 22 and have been on the feanolla progesterone-only mini pill for just over a month. I had about 5 days of light bleeding 2 weeks after starting taking it (which was also 2 weeks after my period), which I've been told is normal. I wasn't that worried. But my sex drive has absolutely gone. I've never felt this way before. I'm also getting married in 3 weeks. I'm considering coming off it and just using condoms as a contraceptive because I don't want to be feeling this way on our honeymoon (up until taking the pill, I've never had a low sex drive). I'm worried what the effects of coming off the feanolla pill are? I'm worried about how soon will my period start/ will it happen on my wedding day (and if so, will I be in severe pain on my wedding day).

Has anyone else experienced this while on the feanolla mini pill? What were the effects when you came off it?

I know this discussion was last year but my daughter who is 20 and has poly cystic ovaries has been put on feanolla 75micrograms to help regulate her periods, she had not had one since July 2015, and since being on this mini pill she has been on nearly continuously only having about 8 clear days in 2 months, she has recently begun a relationship and wanted her cycle regular before anything else. But it's not looking likely, plus the extra cost of towels etc. Can anyone suggest anything to help her.

Also worried it's gonna last ages as on holiday in 4 weeks!!

Just reading some of the threads about Feanolla pill. I've been on it for 3 months now and hating it. Never know when I'm going to start my period. When it's going to stop. Bleed for 3 weeks. I've been trying to book an appointment for a smear but I have to keep cancelling as I am still bleeding. Booked it again but can guarantee I'll have to cancel again. I don't like not knowing when and how long my period will last. Think I will have to go and see doctor about changing it.

I'm having the same issues with this pill, I didn't use any contraception previous to this pill and now for the past two weeks have been bleeding continuously. Just as I think it is finishing it gets heavier again! 😳 what contraception did you all try after this pill and is it working?! Do you think I should persevere or switch ASAP?

Thanks

I've tried everything! Was on the injection for 2 years but started having week long periods at the end of the cycle (every 3 months). My doctor said this wasn't normal so did every test under the sun, which all came back negative. Concerned I decided to go on the implant, however after 3 months on that I started spotting everyday. I thought I'd wait it out, to see if it would die down but a year later and I was no better. So I got it removed for this feanolla pill but its no better, a month in and I'm still constantly bleeding!!! I think it has something to do with the fact that all of these contraceptions are designed to thinken the lining of your womb, but mine just seems to thicken so much it can't contain itself :(

I can't have the combined pill as I suffer from migraine and the coil just seems inhumane. Does anyone have any other effective contraceptions? Is it worth waiting it out on this? When is the male version of the pill going to be on the market? ;)

I have been taking feanolla for 4 months now, and I have had periods lasting 2 weeks+, has anyone had the same issue and it's shortened after taking the pill longer or did they end up going on another pill? And which one? Thanks
