Copper coil pain

Just had the cu-coil fitted and it really hurt being inserted as apparently it all tightened up(not sure how I have had 3 children!) and have had abdominal pains since. How long did the pains last for anyone who has had the coil? I have had it twice before and had no issues and the pain lasted a few hours after and that's it?

Hi I've had my copper coil out today as it was really painful and I was bleeding so heavy I couldn't bear it any longer my boyfriend told me not to have it out but I went and had it out anyway coz was too painful will he notice it not being there although I am on the pill so I'm protected against pregnancy ?

Blonde- It might depend on when you started your pill.
I am considering cu coil but not sure I want heavier periods! I can't take anything with hormones so it is my last resort, though maybe barrier methods would be better.

I've had cramping for 3 days now with a bit of spotting but it's bearable and starting to ease. The day after I had the coil fitted was like the early stages of labour and pretty painful but painkillers, a fantastic man and lots of feet up helped! A friend had these pains for a week and swore by chocolate and iron bru... She now says the copper coil was the best thing she did contraception wise because after the initial settling in time it's just there, doing its thang!

My doctor said that Buscopan would help with the cramps so I'm going to get some today. Really hope your pain eases.

The pains did go but it's nowhere near as comfortable as my last one, after "quality time" with dh it cramps slightly again and I keep feeling something in there, not sure if it's the strings or what but not 100% comfortable. Anyway I have a review of it today so I am going to ask them, but as long as it's in place it's better than the pill I guess......just need to convince dh to do his bit Hmm
