Bruising after having implant

I had the Nexplanon implant fitted on Friday and I expected there to be a bit of bruising but I've got quite a lot, in fact most of my upper arm. I was just wondering how long the bruising takes to go down and when it stops becoming sore? Please no horror stories about how bad the implant is please, I know a lot of people have trouble with it but I'm hoping I'm not one of them!

I've included a phot to show what the bruising currently looks like...

Hi, I've had several implants and the bruising/swelling usually takes about 7-10 days to go away. It can itch for a good couple of weeks though as your body gets used to it. x

Yeah, take about a week to go down but is less sore after about 3 days.
Am currently on my second implant, due a new one in the summer. It's been great for me Smile

Thank you for your replies. I guess everyone will have to put up with looking at my arm during the warm weather this week! I've tried the pill and also the patch and I found I wasn't a fan of either. I got the implant purely for the ease of it, not having to remember to take it and risking forgetting etc. Fingers crossed I can get it to last the full 3 years with no issues :)

That's well Gnarley, OP. I'd plaster it on my FB wall.
At least 3 weeks for mine to stop aching, too.
Good news is that it was a doodle to remove, no pain.

I keep having visions of me leaning on my arm and the implant sliding out of the hole where it was inserted, I also have this thing about lumps under the skin, it freaks me out so when I changed the first dressing and had to feel it to check I could, I was so disgusted lol

Aww Bexicle, I used to have that ew-ness when I had my implant too. By the time it got to six months I used to show it to friends to freak them out! (Yeah, I know...)

My bruising took about two weeks to totally go but more annoying was the itching! Had to keep reminding myself not to scratch...

Star.
