Anyone tried new caya diaphragm?

Very long story short - I've come off mini-pill due to awful effect on libido. I am now completely rampant and want to jump my oh constantly. He's v pleased! ?? Not too keen on condoms but having to use for now. Local family planning have said they're getting new diaphragms in - think they're called caya. Has anyone tried them ? Just out of interest how many others have had zero libido on mini pill. I was starting to think it was due to being pre-menopausal but maybe not!

Ooh this sounds interesting. I hope someone comes on with some info!
I have had mirena coil and Evra patches and both knocked my libido completely.

Think that's why they're such good contraceptives - you'd rather have a cuppa!

Watching with interest. I too want to come off hormonal contraception, I have absolutely sex drive at all but I hate condoms and would really rather not have to use them.

I've just had my implant removed after nearly 12 months, I had zero sex drive and find I'm tons better since. I had it out 2 weeks ago and feel so much better. I am looking for an alternative now so any info would be great Smile

here

Very interested in this as I cannot take hormonal contraception and cannot have a coil due to previous ectopic pregnancy. This could be the best thing ever for me if it's any good.

Oh this is interesting!

I can't find anything that says how effective it is, am I being dense?

It says as safe as the classic diaphragm, which is 92-96% when used correctly with spermicide.

I bought one from amazon and took to fpc to have fitted (they are waiting on stock but as so few women use diaphragm said I might be waiting a while) . Was 40£ on amazon, worth it to me as much more comfortable and nurse at fpc confirmed it fit well. Good in use ??
seems I have developed sensitivity to non oxy 9 spermicide too - so bought contra gel online instead of one from fpc and happy with it

Was discussing with a friend last night - nice to be hormone free

I use caya :) it's fantastic! Once you get the hang of popping it in it's so easy and comfortable and much easier to remove than standard diaphragms! Caya have a video online explaining about it and instructions on use so it you haven't already I recommend searching for that. I got mine from femininewear.co.uk, they also sell the gel and always have a 10% off code if you look in the discount section ;)

The contra gel site also sells a cervical cap- can't remember the name but has anyone tried it? I am on micronor but have noticed weight gain and acne so I won't be asking for a new prescription! Nothing else agrees with me and I had bad experiences with the old diaphragm.

I was using a diaphragm last year as I really cannot find a hormonal contraception that doesn't give me also side effects

My plus' were: lost a lot of weight! That's about it
negatives massively outweighed all positives: it smelt disgusting, spermicide having to re top up if gone past the 6 hours, having to say to my partner "oh just off to pop my diaphragm in" equalled no sex drive after, and he could easily feel it during sex.
Looking at photos I can't see Caya would be any better but if it is please say as I hate contraception!!

I loved the diaphragm in between my DCs. Been on mini pill while breastfeeding DC3 as pelvic floor been a bit dodgy so not sure id hold the diaphragm in! My libido is non-existent even though the baby is finally sleeping! I might look into this but would need the nurse to check my pelvic muscles are strong enough to hold it.

I've seen a few threads recently from MNetters seeking to stop hormone contraception. OK, I suppose I'm just being nosy here, but I was wondering if people did try Caya, and if so how they're getting on with it.

I tried it. Only a couple of times
It was not the easiest thing to get the hang of taking in and out.
And I wasn't really happy with slightly higher risk of pregnancy.
I have decided now that it's condoms or nothing

Came across this thread looking for caya reviews, but obviously this is an old thread, so for the benefit of those wanting more info, ive been using caya for 2 mos and i can say that ive gotten the hang of using it - putting it in everytime i expect to "do" it. I love the caya, I cant feel it, hubby says he can feel it just a tiny bit but doesnt bother him, the caya gel smells kinda like vanilla but its not my favorite smell but hey no big deal. Im just happy i dont have to use hormones, condoms or FAM. Caya works for me at first u need to be disciplined in putting it in even if you are not sure u will do it, just put it in every night as a habit kinda like brushing your teeth. I like that i can take charge and be in control of protecting myself from unwanted pregnancy

i was searching for reviews of this as i'd never heard of it and came across this thread. i'm in my 50's now and don't want to use hormonal contraceptives so am tempted to give this a go.

I just got mine and I already love it. It was so easy to put in. Due to it now being 100% effective I’ve decided to use it along with condoms for the first half of my cycle till ovulation (I’ve had condoms break too many times so I’d never use one methodaine) and then just the Caya after ovulation till my period.

I know this is an old thread but without going into too much detail I'm struggling to put the diaphragm in. I can't work out where it should be even when I've seen the pictures. Does anyone have any tips? Feels a bit like parallel parking.
