Have I had a period or not?

So I have been on the pill for about 10 years.

No problems.

But just over a week ago I started 'spotting' very lightly.

I had run two packs back to back so thought it was my body telling me I needed to take a break and so have now given myself a 7 day break.

The spotting hasn't got any heavier. Not enough to need pads or tampons, but what I do have seems to be dried up dark clots.

What does it mean?
