I've had the Mirena in for almost 3 months now.
I still get period like cramps every few days or so (enough to be a uncomfortable). Every week or so I have shooting pain that makes me catch my breath. Every few weeks I get pain so sharp it disables me doubling over and unable to move for a minute or so... a bit like trapping a nerve.
It's all less frequent than it was for the first couple of weeks. But it doesn't seem to be getting much better over the last month or so, and though it's bearable, I'm not sure I want to have this for the next 5 years.
My doctor thinks this is normal and it'll 'settle'. She sent me for an ultrascan (which then got referred to an x-ray) to check it's positioned right as the strings seem to have gone missing. The position turned out to be fine.
Can anyone who has had a similar experience let me know when cramping/pain finished, if it did? Or if they had it removed in the end? Would I be likely to have a better experience if it was re-fitted, or should I conclude simply not for me?
Thanks!
