Mirena and depression

I had my coil put in 8 weeks ago. Its been no end of trouble and I'm looking for some advice on what happens next.
Insertion was fine and I seemed ok for a week but then the trouble started. First off, I bled solidly, almost non-stop some days, for over a week - passing massive clots and generally feeling unwell. The unwell feeling carried on but I put it down to a week of solid bleeding..maybe I was anaemic? Anyway, since then things havent improved they have turned so much worse!! I am so depressed...taking to my bed most nights before the kids do (i have a 2 and 8 year old girls) so means I'm in bed before 8 some nights. I don't want to get out of bed...just want to shut the world, and my husband out. Paranoia has set in. I cry for no reason most days. I have almost constant headaches and tention in my back and neck so i'm solid as a rock. I'm always cold too! my boss gets crazy for me as I need the heater over 30degrees or I feel ill with the cold.
To add to matters, I went for my 6wk check and the nurse couldnt find it! so I have a scan next week at the FPC but am not sure what this means. I could be pregnant now!!!! How ironic is that...get the coil fitted to prevent this disaster from occurring and now it may be happening anyway.
So my question is this....has anyone else experienced this, where they feel ill on the coil or it has been 'lost' after insertion.
If I do have a scan...can it be taken out there and then??? Just want the stupid thing OUT now....once and for all end the doubt.

Hi mum2crazygals.. I had the exact same experience as gp convinced me that it wuld be as simple as get it in and forget about it....not so....i stuck it for 8 months coz they kept telling it will settle dwm after a yr....well i culdnt hack it for a yr....i nearly had a melt down with the damned thing....i had constant headaches.....was constantly bleeding maybe a few days of no bleeding in a month and around the time i was due to ovulate i wuld get this awful pain in my side where i wuld jst hve to go to was a nightmare and to boot a friend of mine got pregnant on it...and the mood swings... I was always in the end of the 8 months my dh said he culdnt take much more! So out it came and eventually after a month r so i returned to myself again....its awful and wuld not recomnend it to anyone....hope that helps op and your getting it sorted. Good luck. Frankly

I'm sorry you're having a hard time, but to add some balance mrfranklyshankly I have had no problems with mine. I still get minor bleeding (only need panty pad, or if not available, careful knicker washing) but nothing more. Previously I suffered with severe period pains and heavy bleeding.
