Mirena owners/experts - help please!

I had a mirena fitted in February. I had 3 weeks of spotting, which then stopped.

4 weeks ago I had a 4 day bleed - like a period but much less blood than I'm used to.

Last week I spotted occasionally, spotted yesterday evening and have just found that I'm now bleeding as if starting a period again.

I've never had it checked. I've never felt the strings, and neither has DH and he spends way more time up there than I do

I've also got agonising backache and last night couldn't sleep because of back and hip pain.

Now I'm freaking myself out wondering if it's dropped out (I'm sure I'd have noticed), or has become less effective, or something. This is also compounded by a GP making me do a pregnancy test in April when I had labyrinthitis, as she had seen 8 women that month become pregnant on the mirena.

Has anyone else ever started having periods after nearly a year of not? Does it need checking out?

My back HURTS.

Back pain has gone and been replaced by agonising pain under right of my ribcage. Am going to have to brave the doc tomorrow, aren't I?

Am bumping up the Mirena threads because I am worried !!! Lots of people have had them fittend - would like more experiences (good/bad) - I have an appt to go back and have mine checked in 4 weeks but was never told by the Dr to feel for the strings myself - how are you feeling now op? Is it all sorted out?
