REALLY HEAVY BLEEDING 2 MONTHS AFTER MIRENA FITTED, GETTING A BIT SCARED!

hi, i had a mirena coil fitted 2 months ago. i bled lightly for about 3 weeks afterwards then stopped and have had one light period since. i have never had painful or heavy periods. now for 2 days i have benn bleeding really heavily to the point it's making me feel a bit funny. i would say even a bit more than after i gave birth, there is no clots. the blood is bright red which is freaking me out a bit. the other thing is that one of the cords from the coil is missing, i went to see the nurse last week but she couldn't find it and has made me an appointment with the doctor but not for another week. i live in the country and the only medical attention i could get today is a small local A&E department, also i am home alone with the my 2yr old and 8 month old.
im getting a bit scared, does anyone know if this is normal??? thanks.

I don't have experience of mirena, nor am I a medic . But that doesn't sound right.

I am not saying that is what is happening to you is normal, but when I had the Mirena I bled so heavily it would leak through the heaviest tampon and a pad and go through two towels onto the mattress at night. I had to change my tampon every two hours like clockwork or else it would leak. I used to feel faint and dizzy for two days each month and rang my health centre on more than one occasion asking if anyone could remove it that day. I also had depressing thoughts on ovulation days, so much that I would monitor my calendar and not arrange anything for those days.

Needless to say, I had it removed and now have three day light bleeds and am happy on ovulation days.

Could you possibly ring your A&E dept and speak to a doc for advice? Or ring the out of hours GP and ask for a call back? Or ring Marie Stopes?

thanks for replies, its not so much the amount of blood that is worrying me but the fact that it is bright red and very runny not like a normal period. but then again i ahve never had a heavy period so maybe this is what its like?
