Defo never ever want any more dc and nor does dh ever. DH went for the snip and it never happened as pulse high, balls hiding etc.. so feel the balls back in my court. Always managed with barrier methods but really wanting to enjoy the spontaniety and not having to think of it plus soe thread on here a few weeks back about condoms not working because of manufacture fault and not just because people not using properly has scared me too. Hopeless at remembering the pill and am slightly though not completely against pumping hormoney type thigs into my body especially if they make me bald or fat or grumpy. Is there something else out there for me or is it female sterilisation?

There is the Implanon implant which is very reliable and lasts for 3 years but I bled very erratically on it and had it removed for this reason.

My doctor said that 1 in 6 fitted get removed in the first 6 months, so they're obvioudly not for everyone.

I was on the injections for about 6 years but was advised to stop as they can casue bone thinning. Never had any problems during the time I was on them but did stop as this sounded a bit serious. This was all quite a while ago so I don't know if they've done anything to improve them since then.

I've never been any good at remembering pills, find condoms too faffy and not sure enough about never having more to make DP have a vasectomy. Will be watching with interest as I have no idea where to go from here...

i have just been readign the nhs contraception advise, i get to the bit about thinning bones and say nahh then i read about the vaginal ring and thought ooo thats interesting then read about the thrombosis and blood clots and sacked that too as mother had huge stroke at 49 and it just all is tooscarey. Im thinking mirena looks interesting but then lots on here seem to have reacted badly to it hmmmm. I wish my dh didnt have magic dissapearing balls!.

I love my mirena, and all its little friends that have kept me baby AND PERIOD free since 1993. It is even helping me through the menopause. ((((hug my mirena)))

Sadly, sex is designed to get you pregnant. If you want to have sex and not get pregnant then there will be a price to pay. Why not have the snip yourself?

oldenough thanks for your love of the mirena - your right of course about me getting sterilised but im hoping somewhere down the line dh will agree to some light sedation and go get it done (i am scared of a GA). I think reading all i have read i am leaning towards the mirena in the interim though will talk to gp to se if they can sterlise under a local keyhole like.
