Progestogen only pill and weight gain

Is it normal to rapidly gain weight while on Micronor pill? I've been on it for two boxes worth and I am piling on the abdominal fat. I started taking it due to very heavy and painful periods and it's worked a treat, but, oh, the weight gain! I am much hungrier than before too.

I'm also on 10mcg daily of prednisolone (steroid) for Lupus. They're supposed to make you put on weight, but I've noticed nothing significant until I added the micronor. After a life time of being underweight, a bit of extra padding was really welcome, but it's gone beyond that now. I'm nothing like huge yet, but if it carries on at this rate, I soon will be. I now have 'overhang' on my waistbands (not pretty!) and my norks lead a life of their own.

Much as I know all the pill does, with regard to the heavy periods, is to mask any underlying problem, it's such a blessed relief not to be tied to the house for two-three days a month, or to be anaemic, that I'm reluctant to come off them. Any advice?
