Met Police Archives - worth the money?

Hi, has anyone used these for research? I have a great grandad who was in the Met but am hesitant to pay £12 if it will just tell me his rank and where he worked.

You might want to try The National Archives first (if you haven't already), have a look at www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/policeofficer.htm
