(5 Posts)So today, whilst clearing my dad's house I spent an hour going through an old trunk full of every Birthday, Christmas and Anniversary card that my parents sent each other from when they met in 1958 to when mum died in 1992
I found the poem below in a Valentine's card
The day that it started
Has come round once again.
Another chance to thank you
As we walk life's bumpy lane.
For sharing with me half your life
For all the fun we've had.
For holidays and carnivals,
Then we were Mum and Dad.
For bringing up my children
For giving them your time.
And in return, all I can do
Is love you, Valentine
How lovely!
Awww, that has made me go all teary... lovely
I have decided to burn all they cards and scatter the ashes on my parents grave
The cards were personal between them and I don't want to just throw them in the bin
House clearing is so hard
Especially when every childhood item you ever had seems to have been
*have been kept
