Are there others out there whose year 11s are looking to move an extracurricular activity to a profession via sixth form professional training.
DD is applying for musical theatre and I was hoping to find others ( not just MT) to go through the highs and lows of auditions with.
First audition is 12/12 and this is one of the aspirational colleges. We have two aspirational, one good and likely to get in and one banker on our list. DD is also are applying for standard sixth form to do Psychology, History and single award performing arts.
DD has done all the research, made all the choices. I am just taxi service and cheerleader.

Good luck! Dd is currently in the second year of a Level 6 Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre.

The very best of luck to her.

Mine left school at 16 and went into full-time ballet training.

It is tough out there. You really do need that backup plan, a career in the performing arts is an uncertain one for all sorts of reasons. Somewhere like Hammond or Tring for MT would be the best option at 16 because they do A-levels.

Dd is doing A Levels alongside her diploma. It’s long hours and hard work but she’s loving it.

DR has a process disorder so A-levels are not the best option for her. We are looking for her to do the Cambridge OCR which is equivalent to three A-levels. My rules are she has to go into tertiary education and get a qualification that enables her to teach so if she is unable to perform she can teach.

My ds is going to be applying for the Pearson diploma but in Music Tech with the aim of applying to uni/conservatore afterwards. Do you have a good local college with a good track record or will she have to move away to maintain the level of training?

Meant to say, A levels would not be appropriate for him either.

@Comefromaway we are within commuting distance of Read College which has an excellent track record. Graduates go to top drama schools or conservatories.
So that is the 12/12 audition, we are also going to look at Emil Dale in October which would mean living away from home.

I know Read. Dh is friends with the principal. It is, as you say, very well regarded.
