Exam results in Dance Schools - How are they given?

I attended an exam result presentation with my son and daughter at their new dance school in December. We didn't know the results beforehand and they were read out in ascending order, so obviously the lowest mark candidate comes up first to receive their certificates. The highest marks, and particular children, received the loudest cheers and applause.
My children did quite well but I didn't feel comfortable as we've been used to a school where the results were given privately and they won't share the results of other children.
Just asking because I'm curious as to how other schools handle exam results.

We’ve experience of two schools now. Neither do that and I wouldn’t be taking her to the presentation if it did, regardless of her result. She’s come top in every exam - I wouldn’t want others start with “teachers pet” and all that nonsense and likewise I wouldn’t want any other child looking down on the less able children. In the first school, they received their results in class, but just individually handed to them at the end of the class so they went straight home with them. In both schools, we’ve had texts from the teacher to congratulate her on the results. This time, her teacher said to the class that there’d been one distinction in her grade (very small exam group this time), but didn’t name her. Their certificates and exam awards show the banding between pass merit and distinction though so when they arrive, they will see that

our dance school give them out in class and they do read out the marks but they don't do them in an order so unless you have a great memory or a very small class you would be hard pushed to remember everyone else's. I haven't noticed it being a problem at ours. sometimes they give them out before or after class in the waiting room if someone has missed the lesson they were given out in, not normally an announcement but just handed over and said. sometimes they don't read them all out, usually if the marks might upset someone I think and just literally hand them out but of course the first thing the children do is ask each other anyway. We don't have awards evenings though - not sure I like the sound of those but I do think it is nice for them to all be praised and applauded. Our teachers do always make a point to discuss the results with the individual showing them how the marks equate to good, very good etc in each section so in a sense putting the numbers into language for them and praising them for what they have achieved.

ours also always get them as soon as the teacher has them, in their next lesson so no waiting around until a scheduled awards evening

I always send a text message to the parents with the child's individual mark as soon as the results arrive so that they can discuss them with their child beforehand if they so wish. Exam reports are handed out in class in envelopes.

I have a presentation once a year for the whole dance school for exam certificates. I award a medal to students who receive a distinction, and also have a trophy for overall highest exam mark of the year which is read out to the whole school. I also have awards for improvement, commitment, endeavour and performance - which are awarded on their own merit, and are not related to exam scores.

At our old dance school the marks were given individually and not shared with other parents. However, at an annual event a prize was given to the pupil for the highest classical mark and the highest non classical mark (tap, modern etc) Then other trophies for most improved and so on.

Another old school would give results individually then publish them on the wall, in no particular order.

The results were in no particular order! Sorry, typing in a rush

Not here, no presentation ceremony though. Results are given in sealed envelopes so completely private.

out of interest though don't the kids all ask each other anyway?

Oh yes, despite being told not to open their envelope in the dance school they start in the car on the way home or at the next lesson! But it's up to the child then, if they don't want to reveal the actual marks or grade then they don't have to.
