Hi ladies,
I'm running the school disco, but I have no idea what to do! The horror!
Can anyone give me some advice on the following?
Price of tickets?
Price of drinks?
Price of sweets?
Thanks guys! :)

Depends a lot on the type of school and the area but to give you an idea...

My school (state primary, fairly mixed financially) Tickets £2, drinks 50p, sweet bags 20p.
DD's school (private prep) Tickets £5, includes a drink and a little bag of sweets.
DS' school (Grammar, affluent area) Tickets £3, drinks 80p, tuckshop most things about 50p.

We pay around £3 and they get a drink and some crisps included in the price.

what are your costs and what are you hoping to raise -i.e. a BIG fundraiser of £1000 or so, or one mainly for the children just for their engagement one where you stick a tape on and have low costs?

We charge £3-£5 pp but the hall hire, DJ/person doing the entertainment etc cost a bit. Plus you'll make most of the money on the bar - get sale or return booze so you don't run out, and make sure you get your prices right - we charged £3 per glass of stuff, can't recall beer.

Sweeties are always v popular too if parents are ok with you selling them (can be controversial)

Bear in mind however you price it someone will always complain Wink and that person will probably have never helped nor offer to help in the future Grin

At DD's primary school (sometime ago now) it was £1 entrance and then drinks/sweets were a little over cost price, we also used to do glow sticks etc.

We do £5per ticket and one drink and packet of sweets included. Parents can buy sweets in the entrance and their child can take them in, but we didn’t want lots of children losing money half way through which used to happen.

Just a little more info to see if you ladies can't help me further - we're trying to raise a profit for future activities, whilst still offering the best experience for the children. We don't have a lot of money to work with and the hall hire is already drained most of our pockets. Anyone have any budgeting suggestions?
Thanks all ladies who have offered suggestions, I am considering everything you all say!

If it’s raising money for school funds and organised by the pta why can’t it use the School Hall for free?

is it a kids only event or are parents involved? Anything where we sell wine/beer to parents always brings in good money.
