Hi Has anyone brought rainbows uniform new recently?

I got a pair of xs trousers from eBay and they are tiny on my 5 year old. I was all set to order new small pair tonight but looking at the size charts the xs pair I have don't match the sizing chart measurements.

I don't know if the previous owner shrunk them but even if they have they are much smaller than size charts.

According to a couple of sizing charts for the joggers my daughter still needs xs. Has anyone got a newish pair to measure up inside leg for me please?

I was going to get her a medium polo top too but again sizing chart indicates she needs small. What size tops are your girls in?! Got a serious headache. Would really like her to have uniform for Saturday as there is a district event but can't get to nearest retailer so online is only option!

She's just started going into 7/8 clothes in Asda etc as she's had a massive growth spurt and has my tummy and thighs!

I thought the sizing was an absolute nightmare. Most girls I know had trouble getting the trousers to fit, almost all were way too long.
I have a small for her age DD so I avoided them altogether and bought bright red jeggings from H&M.
Top I got in size M. It seemed biggish at first but has shrunk with weekly washing and is a bit short on her now but she's 7 in Feb and will go up to Brownies.

Do not tumble dry any Raimbows/Brownie uniform! It shrinks. We've got a medium top but I tumbled it and it is now too short. The trousers we have are medium but only fitted my tall dd1 when she was 7 and leaving Rainbows. Her sister refuses to wear them so I got her a pair of plain red leggings.

I'd go for a medium top as better too big than too small (as my mums says) and some red leggings.

Thank you. It's so frustrating! Every review site says uniform has been an issue for years yet still David Luke has the contract.

She really wants joggers like her friends. None of the others have leggings otherwise I'd get them. So annoying.

Money is tight too. Think I'll just order the small joggers and medium polo and cross my fingers!

Jeggings were £3.99. Get other parents to buy them too!

I'm a Rainbow leader, yes the uniform sizing is a nightmare, lots of people keep moaning to HQ about it but nothing changes...

My own DD had medium trousers (that I turned up to start with) and polo, get the polo too big so it lasts the full 2 years, you won't want to be removing and sewing badges onto a new top! She spent the last term (a summer one!) in shorts as the joggers were above her ankle by then Grin

Check with your daughter's leader though, many of us have spare 2nd hand uniform we can loan you to start with.

Thank you Rue.

Decision made. Medium top and small trousers which I'll use my girl guiding skills to adjust!

Two groups have just merged and there appears to be no spare uniform. Nor any volunteer shop in district. Our local scout one gives 10% of sale back to grouup. A task for the future maybe but not now whilst new baby due. I'm going to complain to hq though. David Luke need to sort the sizing out. It's embarrassing!

The sizing is a total pain. I bought my very petite 6 yo DD the xs joggers from eBay and they fit fine round the waist but were too short in the leg and looked silly. I then bought a small pair which are loose round the waist and way too long. My MIL took them up and also gathered in the elastic on the waist so they're just about ok now.

I also bought a small hoodie which is starting to look too small, but will have to last until she moves to Brownies now. The polo shirt isn't too bad, she has a medium which was a bit big to start with but is fine now.

Probably too late but if you want me to measure anything, let me know.

Girl guiding uniform in general has a weird fit. The leaders tops are extremely short (and I'm 5'1"!), brownie leggings seem oddly low rising and give all but the skinniest of girls a builders bum. The guide tops seem better though, not had any complaints or noticed any issues not that that's much consolation to you now!

I don't know about rainbows but worth checking - the brownie tshirts are square shaped so don't sit very long on the body. My 7yo dd had to get a 36" to fit her body length which is ridiculously wide on her but it's better than having her belly show. The legging trousers shrink in the wash too even if you don't tumble dry them. It's an expensive joke.
