How to find an acting agency?

DD (16) asked me how wants to find an agency. When I said I didn't know, she said, "Can't you ask on Mumsnet?" Grin

So any experience or suggestions?

16 is a tricky age for an agency really. She's adult, doesn't need a licence ftom the June after she's 16 but is up against people who have been to drama school etc

There are some agencies that specialise in children & teens (Google) & they'll tell you how to contact them. Most want experience/a showreel etc.

You could have a read on notapushymum.com for more info.

Does she have any experience?

Thanks Devilish. She has done a lot of local, amateur stuff and loved it.
She's doing sciience Alevels but wondering if she has made the right decision I think as she loves music, acting, singing.

I will have a look at notapushymum and google agencies for teens.

She will struggle to find an agency aged 16 unless she's got professional credits already or its one connected to a school she attends.

And does she realise most auditions & jobs are during school time? Under 16s are licensed to miss school & have a bit more freedom but over 16s will be expected to drop everything at short notice.

Sorry I didn't reply to your suggestions. We are in the south west.
She seems to have settled and is currently busy with an amateur production and helping with musical and vocal direction at a youth production.
So the pressure is off for now but your perspectives were useful for me
