Those of you who know about cricket bats ...

So, I've bought ds a cricket bat - the bloke in the shop said it didn't need oiling and just needed to be 'knocked in for about 2 hours' (FFS). We have done that. But, it's covered in a sort of tough, stick-on paper, wood-coloured. I wondered if you're supposed to peel it off, but it's very thick and I thought you were supposed to leave it on to protect the bat? Anyway, now it's all peeling off and the boys at school say ds has got a 'fake' bat. It looks awful, after only a few games. It's a Kookaburra make, about £30. Have I bought something totally useless and 'fake'? Does anyone know what to do about this paper?? Sorry if it seems a daft question ...

Take it back to the shop and ask,

peeling paper mentioned in this review

Have you emailed the company and explained your son's experience of their product?

Yes, I will take it back - I think, from looking at other pictures, we've been sold a fake Kookaburra.
