DD's school have been a little awkward uncompromising about time off for her hobby

But recently they have been lovely & supportive; so as I have previously been slagging them off slightly critical of them on here, I thought I should apologise.

So I have Grin

That's lovely. What caused their change of view and is there reason to think it will last?

It coincided with her being declared Gifted & Talented and starting to attend a Centre for Advanced Training - so they didn't just take our word for it

Which brings up the issue of when it is a 'hobby' and when it is a 'career- path' I suppose and whether that view is validated by outsiders I guess

I know of a child who takes a minimum of half a day out per week. His mum says that it's agreed on the basis the school cannot provide adequate level teaching for his talent. She also managed to get someone at the LEA to support her case with the school.

She is a dancer (primarily Ballroom & Latin and African, but more latterly Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern & Contemporary)
