Like most parents you really hope that you child finds a talent and actually becomes really good at it, but the cost of my daughters irish dancing is now getting silly. We have just got her a new solo dress for her to wear at the Great british championships cost = £650. entrance fee £400. and that is just one competition. She now needs to pro shoes (£45 for the soft ones and £55 for the heavies). Is there anyone else feeling the pressure??? Bye the way she is 8

if its any help my mum always supported me the best she could with my dancing, but sometimes no has to be no- if the money isnt there it isnt there!
i hated her at the time, as it was my passion and probably could have gone rather far with it (according to teachers etc) but now at the grand old age of 20 understand that a decision had to be made!

do what you think is best- she will understand your decision eventually either way!

OMG - £400 for entrance! My mum used to hand embroider the competition dresses (1970s Ireland); I would love my DD to do it but there is nowhere around here (we're in Oz).

That is a mega expensive activity though, can you get anything second hand?
