Hiring a fun fair for school summer fair?

Has anybody ever done this? How much was it?
I read about this and like the idea, basically not much work for us, but not sure about whether this will work.
We're a very small school as well, 130 pupils.
Any thoughts?

It'll cost you an absolute packet. The University I used to attend did this for the balls, it's thousands of pounds, you need a lot of space and then there's the health and safety.

may be worth contacting people who have individual rides and attractions at local fetes

Our PTA did this, it didn't cost thousands, or even hundreds. Probably a difference between spinning teapots and bigger student rides. I don't have the details sorry. Try your yellow pages for local attractions.

You might want to try posting in Primary, there is more traffic there.

Ours has had a circus a few times. Makes quite a bit of money.

The best bit was the unrehearsed time when the monkey tugged on the ringmaster's trousers and they fell down. Don't think the children knew what we were laughing about but even the performers were in stitches.

I have spoken to a fun fair provider today and it will probably not cost us a penny for 2 fair rides and a candy floss stall!
They bring everything, including staff and insurance, and we will get 20% of their takings. Not that much, but it will hopefully bring in the crowds.

I helped organise a summer fayre at my sons school a couple of years ago. After a number of calls and a bit of research I found that a company called Amazing Events for childrens rides hire. Most other fun fair providers hire equipment from Amazing Events (and then put their middle man charge on top). Their website is www.amazing-events.co.uk
