Have just started going to a yoga class again after birth of DD (now 8 months). Prior to her birth I had done some yoga in pregnancy & about a terms worth of classes pre-pregnancy. I am interested in reading that provides practical instruction that would help me establish some simple daily practice but am also very much interested to learn more about the history/philosophy/spirituality behind it all. Suggestions please.

Thanks for the suggestions EldonAve, the book written from an anatomical perspective sounds fascinating. Is that my geeky side coming to the fore? smile

I think I will tell the geek that I'm sorry for all the times he's been denied & promise to nurture him lovingly from now on grin

I love Yoga Mind and Body from the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre. It´s very strong on the different postures, great photos, physical and mental benefits of each posture, etc.

Also have a great DVD: Jayne Middlemiss - Love Yoga, also only 5 quid on Amazon. The yogi is great, brilliant descriptions of what to do so not reliant so much on watching him (or her). 2 levels, c 1 hr each, great for nap time! It has kept me really fit!

Thanks Sachertorte, only picked up the message after all this time but will check it out grin
