you know loads of you do that 'couch potato to 5k' - question.....

....have you suceeded in this where normal running has failed before?

I have 'started' running countless times and always given up - is there somethign special about this?????

Hi BBBee.
Whenever I've tried to run before I would end up a) not warming up properly and b) trying to push myself too far so that I felt like dying when I was finished my 5 minute run. C25K is great for me because it tells me what to do and when to do it and also tantilises you with promises of what you can do next. And you know what, they're right! I started C25K in January, and then really couldn't do more than about a minute without needing to rest, and now am already able to run 25 minutes / 2.5 miles.
There are loads of us ploughing our way through it, all at different paces - come and join us here

Basically what Odette said.
Instead of you collapsing 5minutes into your first run and saying, bugger this I'm no good at running, and going home to eat cake it gentle eases you into a running program and you build up the amount of running you do at your own pace.

What is the actual programme then? I started with 10 mins yesterday, and did another 10 mins run/powerwalk hybrid this morning , but will have another crack at it when dd goes to bed (indoor treadmill). Any advice?

I think this gives you the confidence to give it a go. Robert (the podcast guy) is like a personal trainer with out all the annoying c'mon you can do it. Plus the program builds your stamina up run by run which gives you more of a base to continue. That's what I have found anyway.

Do it, it's fun, and join the thread. We chat about the weather, lost ipods, huffy puffiness and a bit about how we are getting on.

got m,e fropm a run hater to 10k!!!
since had a baby and am into week 5 of couch to 5k again....

do you have an ipod? if so, i can recommend a podcast to keep you going

I've got my iPhone,I think that would work, but I don't really understand what a podcast is?!

on itunes, if you go to podcast and search running (i think) then you can get a free podcast which talks you through 9 weeks of running

alternativel i used the race for life 5k programm back in 2007

Here's Robert - you can download the podcasts onto your phone (I have an iphone too - it's very easy, you just do it via iTunes) and off you go.
