I'm in absolutely no way qualified to start this thread but I couldn't see another one!

So after nearly 2 weeks of not running with plantar fasciitis issues, I've just done W6R1! I thought I'd go back a bit a build up gradually but it was actually ok considering I haven't run in so long. I haven't lost it completely as actually felt a bit like a runner! 🥳 We'll see how my heels are later today...

And I got back home just before the hail hit!

Hope anybody else running this morning is enjoying the crazy weather!

Well done you! We had lots of hail yesterday, but so far today seems find - sunny at the moment.

Did you get new trainers for your PF?

I haven't yet BIWI - it could be my downfall! I'm going to try to get to a running shop next week. I have been doing exercises for PF and I put in extra insoles etc so it does feel better.

How are you getting on? I didn't properly keep up with with the last thread at the end but did I see you are almost finished?

Almost - yesterday should have been my last run, but it was really not a good day and I stopped after just over 20 minutes.

I never really got into the run, and had to stop because my earphones cut out and I couldn't fix that and run at the same time! Then I never got back into it.

So I'm going again tomorrow to try and finish the programme! Then will have to decide how to carry on after that.

well done tea
I want ro go running later, have eyed up a different route than usual, hopefully it works out. it takes me a bit closer to the beach.

back up from run.
was hard work today. the route today was a bit annoying, lots of small streets and more traffic than my usual routes.
but I could see the sea!

Very envious of you both being near the beach/sea Envy

I would love to run by the sea too! Unfortunately I'm about as far from the coast as you can get. Loads of beautiful countryside but it's not the beach!

I did c25k with my 7 year old ds. We've now completed it and can do 30 minute runs (still not up to 5k distance though, so I think we're running rather slowly)

But I've discovered that there is a beautiful running path along the river to the next village along. The distance from hon to the village church is just under 5k. So we now tend to run that and then dh comes to pick us up in the car.

Me too. I am near the coast, but in a city and to get to a place near the water where it would be pleasant to run would take far too long to be feasible in the morning before work (would be by bus). It wouldn't even be worth it at the weekend for a 30 minute run/walk, but if I ever become able to run for an hour at a time, then I might try it.

I did W2R3 this morning, there was no accidental 5 mins non stop today. It felt hard work, and then I miscounted how many runs I'd done and left the park on my way home thinking I was on my cool down walk, only to have Sarah Millican tell me to get ready for my last run.

I'm such a muppet just tried to post on the old thread, hadn't realised it was full!
I've kind of lost my way a bit with my running plan as ended up doing 10k a few weeks before planned. Think I need to devise a new plan so I have something to stick to!
Went out yesterday before work and did 1k easy, 5x intervals (some of which were uphill) then 1k back. Felt pretty good so might try 5k race pace on Saturday although the weather forecast looks pretty crap

I've done that before Grin It's horrible isn't it? So much of this lark is psychological - if you know you have another run to do, you can cope with it. But having an 'unexpected' one seems much harder.

That’s great cupidity My DD wants to run with me (she’s 7 too) but I think I need to get a bit more stamina first!

I finished week 2 today and because of timing I’m going to give the first run of week 3 a go tomorrow. It sounds manageable...I’ll see how it goes!

Report
Cupidity · 08/05/2021 00:12

@RAINSh0wers take your dd along with you! I found the early weeks were great for teaching ds not to sprint, but to jog instead. His main issue was that he'd initially sprint off as fast as he could but then he'd get too tired after about 10 minutes of running/walking/running/etc. So it was really useful just to get him to learn to run slowly but steadily.

Well I haven't run, in fact I've barely left my bed all day. Had my covid jab yesterday afternoon and I've been really ill after.
Think I'm going to scrap my running plan for this week and start again next week.

sorry to hear that emily I hope you feel better soon.

I seem to have lost my mojo. went out for my run and did 6k but I am not getting any faster.
I still enjoyed the run though. it smelled divine after a rain shower.

teaandbiscuitsforme · 08/05/2021 21:43

I haven't ran either. Combination of not wanting to go out in the pouring rain and getting on with some DIY! Hoping tomorrow looks a bit more promising!

Hope you're feeling better soon Emily

I finished Week 4 this morning, ran along the Thames which gave me an unintended protein intake.
It was slow going with a lot of swerving to run around people walking two abreast along the tow path.

I need to buy a second sports/running bra. Any recommendations? I very much prefer a clasp rather than wiggling into one. Have the Brooks Fiona, but that has been discontinued.

redcandlelight · 09/05/2021 15:55

märchen shockabsorber is highly rated.
or if the budget is not high and you are not too big then decathlon has decent sports bras.

Hope you’re feeling better soon Emily. I’ve had that miscalculation as well Richard usually because I’ve failed to start the app properly, accidentally paused it while checking it, or not heard one of the cues because of traffic. It’s so annoying isn’t it? I feel like that run doesn’t count if I haven’t done it “properly”.

I’m continuing with my C210K. It continues on from C25K so I’m on week 10, though just 2 weeks on from C25K graduation. If that makes sense? I’m finding it quite confusing myself. This week it’s 3 x 15 minute runs with 1 minute in between. 1 minute isn’t nearly enough for me to get my breath back and combined with a hilly route and a humid day it all felt very slow and like hard work. I’m having to trust the programme as I did for C25K. It’s nice to be doing different runs though, more time and longer distance is taking me to new places so it’s more interesting.

I was thinking of starting the c25k but i'm not a good runner plus I need to build up the strength of my legs as it's been a while since i done any exercise. How did people like me manage and did it help you lose weight aling with eating more healthy.
