Thanks Roonetta for starting the new thread!! I'm in Grin

Yes to crushing it in 2021!!**

Finished Day 27 of BR today but no day-off tomorrow and I'm moving on to Day 29 while I'm not on shift ( start of week 5 eek, hope Jillian is kind!)

Hope you are all well. I admit to falling off the wagon a little recently with Christmas and work going a bit crazy (now working 13-hour shifts on my days in, so can't really fit in workouts on those days) but I'm getting back on track now and trying to double up on my non-working days to keep up! And with lockdown I've got no excuse really as there is little else to do.

Well done to those of you that have set targets for exercise days this year, that is awesome.

Thanks for the new thread @roonetta! I've been back on track so far after a boozy non Jillian December!

Started BR and enjoying it so far (only on wk1 though!). Good to see Nat and Anita and all the other beautiful bodies. V inspiring. I'm also picking up C25k again and doing that on circuit days so feeling quite proud of myself so far in 2021. Doing dry January helps as I'm sleeping well and therefore getting up early to get workouts out of the way. Smile

45 minutes of body pump this morning - I’m doing to 30 day free trial of the Les Mills app.

Day 30 of BR here. Agree with you yesbutno about the beautiful bodies Grin

Did 3 mile run and long walk yesterday as I'm trying to keep the cardio up alongside it.

Put on a couple of kilos over the holidays, so trying to shift those by eating less but it's hard to resist the leftover Christmas chocolate with nothing else to keep me busy. Failed at my attempt at Dry January too so well done to those of you that are keeping to it.

Can I join? Am doing 30 day shred this year for the first time! Loving it so far, especially the retro aesthetic!

What is BR? I’m already wondering what to do when 30 day shred ends

@Newkitty all are welcome. Yes, Shred is hard to beat!

Glad you are enjoying BR Yesbutno, it's a really good programme. Well done on dry January too!

Would love to hear your opinion on Les Mills Hermione, particularly the length of the workouts - I like mine around 35 mins max.

I hear you Algonquin on the weight gain over Christmas. I was a little miffed as I didn't eat nearly as much chocolate as I have over past years and still gained weight. It's annoying how easy it is to put the pounds on and how bloody hard it is to get them off Angry - It doesn't help that our cupboards are stuffed full of chocolate courtesy of well-meaning family members!

So good to see you back @Calmconfident . Feeling embarrassed that I forgot to add you to the list of names Blush - I knew I would forget someone.

Welcome @Newkitty - would be lovely if you joined us. 30DS is one of my favourites too. BR is similar, but it is a 90 day programme consisting of 3 phases. There are 15 workouts altogether; 12 strength and 3 cardio. The structure of the plan provides two workouts and one cardio a week to be repeated 3x for a total of 2 weeks. You then move on to the next set of workouts. So for instance weeks 1 and 2 should look like this:

(Day 1) Workout 1
(Day2) workout 2
(Day 3) Cardio 1
(Day 4) Workout 1
(Day 5) Workout 2
(Day 6) Cardio 1
(Day 7) Rest

You then move on to workouts 3 and 4 and Cardio 1 for the next 2 weeks (this is Phase 1). Workouts 5-8 are Phase 2 and Phase 3 are from workouts 9-12. When you move up a phase, you change the cardio to suit, i.e Phase 2 = cardio 2. God, apologies if I have waffled and made it confusing Hmm

Anyway it is fantastic, fun programme and you get really great results.

BS WO4 for the last time. Cardio 1 tomorrow and then I move up to the next level - gulp!

Thank you @roonetta and @HermioneWeasley !

I started 30Ds on 28th December, and found level 1 a bit too easy, so did alternating level 1 and 2 for the first 10 days. Now I'm onto level 3 and thinking of alternating level 2 and 3 for the next 10 days, then level 3 for the remaining 10.

Am a bit worried I've messed it up by doin it this way but my biggest problem is that I get a bit bored doing the same thing every day. Any tips from 30DS veterans on how to handle it?

Report
roonetta · 11/01/2021 14:21

I don’t think you can do it wrong Newkitty. A few of us recently did the Shred alternating levels 1, 2 and 3 for the whole 30 days as we also got bored doing the same level for 10 days. Can’t say for sure whether it was more or less effective, but we were exercising every day and ultimately that’s what counts. Sounds like you’ve found what works for you. Keep going!

@roonetta you can pick and choose - there are shorter workouts for lower or upper body, or a full body pump set, but I miss the ones I don’t like (lunges!) or feel like I’ve already worked that area (so the back tracks usually cover shoulders) so probably do around 40 mins, but you could do more or less.

I’ve looked at the other classes and I think it’s just body pump for me. It suits me because I don’t like cardio- I hate being breathless and jumping about ( I HATE things like burpees and mountain climbers) , but it’s fast enough to get your heart rate up and counts as cardio as well as strength.

BR workouts 1 and 2 (wk 2) done and C25k wk3 r2 done so still on track. Doing phase 1 cardio again tomorrow and then another round of each - I'm finding it ok - but I know Jillian so I know it's all going to get tougher!

I haven’t lost any weight, but a colleague stopped me today and said I’d lost a shedload of weight, so I guess I must be toning up! (I don’t think I look any different)

Day 32 of BR done here ✅ Pleased with myself as I got up at 5.30am and did it before work.

Let's see if I can do the same again tomorrow!

Well done Hermione sounds like you have more than toned up if your colleagues are noticingSmile How many days a week do you do Body Pump? Do you have your own barbell or use hand weights? I used to love BP when I went to the gym, (nearly a year ago since the first lockdown Shock).

Report
roonetta · 13/01/2021 14:09

It definitely gets tougher Yesbutno, but the preceding workouts really do get you ready for the later ones.

Great No-Scale Victory there Hermione! I bet you have lost tonnes of weight, but just replaced it with muscle. What a great achievement Star

Over a third of the way Algonquin - I admire you for getting up at 5.30am and then going to work afterwards. You also deserve a star Star

BS WO5 for me today. Wasn't too bad and I think I will enjoy it, but today by the time of figured out some of the moves, she had already moved on to the next. I know as it becomes more familiar I won't spend most of the workout gawping at the screen Smile

Days exercised 10

Thanks for the star roonetta - you can have one too Star

Day 34 of BR today** all done. Might go for a walk or something but it's non stop rain here which makes me want to stay home.

I'm intrigued to know what the moves were in BS that you couldn't figure out! I'm finding that she uses some yoga moves in BR that have me falling over/wishing I was more bendy Grin

Report
roonetta · 14/01/2021 15:37

There were several moves Algonquin. Mostly it was about feet/hand placement or my lack of co-ordination which didn’t help, so by the time I’d worked out which hand or foot went where, it was all over. The worst was ‘Bear with front kick shoot through’, ha even the name sounds complicated and I can’t describe them. Not sure I will, ever get those right. There was also cyclone squats, side planks with dips, squats with figure 8 pass to name but a few. I know it will be easier next time, but the first go was pretty bad Grin.

BS WO6 done. Thankfully the moves weren’t as complicated

@AlgonquinBay I’ve only started the free trial since Monday and have done it twice - will get up tomorrow morning and do it again. At home I just have hand weights - not perfect but gets the job done.
