I'd like to join this thread. I never knew one exited. I've been doing Caroline Girvan's Epic Challenge, nearly at the end of it and loved it. I just don't know what to do next

Thanks for the shiny new thread Oubliette Smile - how many days are you doing L3 before moving up? You’ll be glad to see the back of that.

I haven’t been too strict with what I eat Sophie, just cut down on the crap. I eat the same meals as the rest of the family. I find if I have to cook a separate healthy meal for myself, I never keep it up and if I fancy some chocolate I have it. Hope your knee eases Flowers

Welcome to the thread @gindinner Smile

I’m going to do 8 days and then move on. So 2 more to go. I’m having a rest day today (after exercising on 6 consecutive days).

I’d actually rather do L3 of Ri30 than L2 of 30DS. I hate those squats with a v raise in circuit 3!

Hello Gindinner!* yes oubliette* has been doing this thread for a few years now. It's great for inspiring and motivating each other and keeping track of exercise.

What is the epic challenge you've been doing gindinner? Cardio, HIIT?

HIIT for me today: JM's killer arms and back L2 plus 15 mins of abs and core.

Oh, I nearly posted on the old thread! Thanks for the new one Oubliette. Hello gindinner Smile

I had very relaxed strolls and swims on Friday and yesterday so I won't count them. I did my hill run followed by sea swim today and I'm counting that!

Hope your knee is ok Sophie.

I'm struggling with my fitness mojo as the goalposts of the world keep changing.

I've managed two autumn races (7.5mi & HM), and am hoping to get back to my outdoor fitness classes in a couple of weeks.
My yoga mojo has collapsed again. Don't really know why although watching TV box sets and datk mornings don't help...

I've got a general run as much as you can challenge for December, and signed up for RED January, but it all just feels patchy without external structure.

Just did a 10k leg for a marathon relay challenge on runkeeper... 3x after I kept ballsing up the login Blush Grin

Hi @BogRollBOGOF, you’re in the right place for yoga and running. Sophie and Motherforkin are your girls for those ☺️ Don’t feel bad about losing your fitness mojo, we all do from time to time but this thread is a a great motivator. Hope you decide to stay with us.

I also hate the v-raise things in L2 Oubliette 🙁. Well done for ploughing on with L3 of ripped.

Hi @BogRollBOGOF - welcome to the thread. I think we all lose our mojo from time to time. I know posting here helps me stay motivated.

Hello Bogroll and welcome to the thread Smile You sound like a hardcore runner!! And yes I think we've all struggled with motivation at some point. It's inevitable really. I'm loving yoga though and normally feel motivated for that - it's the running and HIIT that I have to push myself for.

What is RED January?

Thank you re knee MotherForkin. It does feel a bit better so will try a run tomorrow. Had a doctor's appointment first thing and by the time I'd got back home, had missed my window for exercise.

And very annoyingly, I often spell "and" as "abd" on my phone keypad and the auto spell always corrects it to "abs" instead of "and"!!! And sometimes it also corrects "and" (properly spelt to "abs"!!) GrinAngry

Hello BogRoll.

It's very stormy and cold here today so my swim this morning was short (literally 10 mins swimming on the spot, despite my best efforts to get through the swell!) This evening I had a short run because it started raining just as I left the house Hmm.

RED January originally stood for Run Every Day created by Mind to promote exercise/ positive mental health/ fundraising but its main focus is physical activity. I aim to run most days, and outdoor exercise every day. There's inevitably a point when I get a cold, or my muscles are just demanding a walk day Wink

Been walking today. First with my friend. We start the week with a walk together this month to help get us through. Then another later in the park with the DCs to fill the gap of their swimming lessons.

Thanks for the explanation Bogroll. Sounds like a great initiative.

I used to love running outside but due to a knee problem, I'm only allowed to run in a treadmill or a soft track. Make treadmill running more interesting by watching a film but it doesn't compare to running outdoors.

Your sea swim sounds intense MotherForkin!

Today for me: 5km fartlek run plus strength for abs and butt. Was tough. Didn't feel motivated and kept wanting to stop during my run.

Yes, it was um, invigorating yesterday, Sophie! It's the wind that's the killer, both in causing the swell and in making me absolutely freezing afterwards. Dh bought me a walking sleeping bag last week which is beyond ridiculous to wear but so incredibly warm after being in the sea and big enough to let me slip my hot water bottle inside it!.

I like the sound of something outdoors every day in January, BogRoll although I know I couldn't manage running every day. Might have a think about that one.

Regular virtual PT session this morning. My shoulder is slowly improving so I managed some mountain climbers in one set. They made me wish my shoulder wasn't improving. We're hoping to start easing out of lockdown from 1st, so there's a small chance I might be back to her studio and proper weights rack next week 🤞🏻

Love the sound of the walking sleeping bag Motherforkin - sounds toasty Grin - glad your shoulder is on the road to recovery and fingers crossed you are out of lockdown on the 1st!

I am lacking a bit of motivation too Sophie. Really not loving 30DS at the moment and for the last few days have really had to push myself to keep going. Only 8 more days left and then I have no idea what I am going to do.

Did my 123rd run of the year. Returned to the trails after a phase of road running. Managed to avoid getting too deep into the clay, and stuck mainly to track/ lane/ grassy fields.

Oh I feel you Roonetta - I can't even do the same type of exercise 2 days in a row let alone the same workout.

Killer buns and thighs L1 (added ankle weights and resistance band to make it a bit harder and that certainly worked) plus day 14 of my 14 days abs challenge.

Now off to google walking sleeping bags MotherForkin!!

Wow Bogroll 123 runs is impressive!

Managed to summon up enough motivation to do L3 (D23) but confess I phoned it in for most of it 😳

I meant to say thanks Sophie, I do wonder whether I am growing fed up of the same workouts having done Body Revolution which changes it up frequently. Will have to do different workouts each day after the Shred I think.
