Exercise

I just want to go for a run

But I can't because I'm injured. I've not been able to run for over six weeks now, the doctor said it's probably my peroneal tendon and I'm waiting for a (telephone Confused) physio appointment.

I miss Parkrun, i miss the feeling i have when i get back from a good run, i miss the feeling of achievement when I increase my miles. And I've put on half a stone in weight. Sad

I've been cycling to work which gets me a bit of exercise. I've tried swimming but I really really don't enjoy it. I can't find another exercise that even closely compares to running.

And this morning I managed to step/twist weirdly on my ankle and now it's hurting even more, so I can't see me being able to run at all any time soon.

Not sure what i wanted to achieve by writing this, just to vent i guess!

You can stay in touch with your Parkrun by volunteering Halo

I hope they can sort out your tendon soon - I can feel the frustration!

I have volunteered a few times, I did yesterday morning, but it's making me feel more sad that I can't run when I'm seeing everyone else running. Running is the thing that helps my mental health, and gives me a sense of achievement. I guess I'm just feeling a bit sorry for myself today.

I feel your pain. I’m 2 weeks out with a chest infection that won’t go away. I miss it so much.

Oh dear, it is grim i remember. Vent away. YOU MUST do the physio exercises , it’s tedious soul destroying and the quickest way to recovery. Could you afford private if needs be? ( although our NHS physios here are the best. GHey did a whole body recovery process not just focussed on the broken bits)

A friend recommended a private physio but they are really expensive, and I can't really afford it, so I'm waiting for the NHS one. I have the telephone appt in two weeks.

I don't mind cycling, but it doesn't feel the same as running because there's so much stopping and starting at lights, and slowing down to second guess cars, etc so it doesn't feel as though I'm getting as much exercise IYSWIM

I feel your pain! I had just got back to being able to run 10k and plantar fasciitis has reared its ugly head again. Can I vent too?

I do love cycling but it's harder to fit it into the schedule, or I have to cycle at 9yo speed (he does his best, bless him)! Can you find an out of town route without so many stops?

Totally get how you feel, I've been ill on and off for months. Nothing else is anything else like running, we will have to be patient but omg it's hard.

Vent away BlueChampagne and Cottonwood It's so frustrating isn't it.

I've managed to make it worse for myself by tripping over in the garden yesterday and bent my ankle at a weird angle, so it's hurting even more today, I've not even been able to cycle to work. Sad

Oh Lala you poor thing, everything seems to happen at once doesn't it. I've had to cancel two events I was due to take part in later this year and just so disappointed.

Have you had your telephone physio appointment yet Lalallama?

I get you OP. I had to stop running due to plantar fasciitis. Started weight training instead. Now have injury. At a loss as to what else to do. I hate the faff of swimming and am bored out of my mind with something like yoga.
