Golf - not sure

I'm interested to know the experience people have had at starting golf as an adult. I'm in my 30's and would like to do it in an attempt to meet new people my age, whilst learning something.

I am apprehensive as when I think of golf I immediately think of it being a rather closed sport where you need money, tends to be run by older men, and it's a bit aloof. Trouble is, I have no spare money and get very easily irritated by men thinking they're more important the women.

Anyone have any experience?

No personal experience but my mum took it up for a bit in her 40s but stopped mainly because it was very time consuming. She said you easily need a half to whole day for the time to get rounds in which didn’t fit with a young family as I too was wondering whether to give golf a go. I took up running instead Smile try out a few practice sessions or lessons at your local club or ask around see what local clubs may suit you.

Try a 9 hole course rather than a full 18. Look for a little par 3 course. It will be shorter, easier and more fun, only taking half the time obviously.
Also find the nearest driving range and hit a bucket of balls.
