Anyone recommend a running shoe for someone with high arches?

I have quite high arches and suffer with plantar fasciitis in my right foot at times when I’m running. I really want to do this and keep doing it - but the trainers I have aren’t right.

I tend to roll inwards with my feet when I run and tend to lead with my right foot. Any suggestions welcome!

Don't ask here. Go to a serious running shop and get yourself a gait analysis and get fitted by the staff. You may have high arches but that might not be the significant reason to choose a particular build of shoe. Particularly with plantar fasciitis (much sympathy!), you need expert help if you're going to run without exacerbating it. Else you'll need expert help healing up...

DP and I have used Up & Running and Runners Need, they don't hard sell or insist you take their shoes. They also both came back with the same gait analysis results, which is always a good sign!

There’s a place in town that does it it’s just getting there! May have to wait till pay day next month lol. My husband has Brooks trainers - I used to have Saucony Omni ones that were great. I have some Nike ones at the moment but know they’re not right - I roll my feet in I’m sure and my arches are very high. I have some insoles so I’ll put them in for now.

I went to an Up and Running last weekend and had gait analysis they were so helpful. I have high arches also, they gave me lots of trainers to try, I ended up with some Brooks and they are by far the most comfortable trainers I've ever tried on. They also explained that due to the high arches you need enough room in the toes for when your feet flatten out and toes spread when your foot strikes the ground.

As previous poster recommended, you should definitely go and get expert help. They couldn't have been more helpful. My three year old was with us and they happily let him stroll on the treadmill for fifteen minutes to keep him out of mischief 😁

I have high arches and wear Brooks Pure Cadence (which are also quite narrow), but definitely get a gait analysis and try on a few different pairs.

Experiment with lacing too. I have high knobbly arches that feel bruised after longer runs. I skip the laces past the bony bit and do a lace lock to hold the shoe firm at the ankle.

I'm currently on On Cloudfliers, but had to put Superfeet insoles in for additional support under my arches.

You should only ever get advice on shoes from a professional. The damage you can do to yourself from unsuitable shoes can be immense. Save up for the right pair, then see if you can get subsequent pairs in outlet shops or online
