L3D1 done
Funny how the first jump squats seem easy and the second batch, after the rock star jumps, are killers.

Great to see this thread. I got quite toned using this a good few years ago. Just started it again 2 days ago. Really hoping to lose some weight and get my muscles back.

Hello hello
I just haven't been able to face shredding in the heat. By the time I get home from a full day in the sweat box office I just want to collapse.
I have been running, so not totally inactive.
Must get back at it.

Welcome to the regulars who made of on this thread! And super hearty one to new joiners! Made today a stretch day after 14 days of working out straight and doing several days of different HIIT where I've seemed to activate different muscles. Those inner thigh muscles - ouch!

Back on Jillian tomorrow where I'll be tackling day 26!

Goodnight Shredders!

@mamahanji - are you coming to join us? Smile

Hi there, I bought the dvd after reading through the first thread. You all inspired me!

I'm on L1D8 today.

What size (weight) weights are you all using? I'm using 3kg and it's ok until I get to the last strength round.. did anyone else progress to L2 without really nailing L1?

Report
clearsommespace · 12/07/2018 08:59

I'm using a mix of 1, 2 and 3. There's no way I could do those anterior raises and side lunges with 3kg!
L3 D2 this morning. I was sluggish (not enough sleep Sad) but did ok.

I'm lurking 😔 my osteomalacia is playing up badly. I'm angry I let myself get so bad without doing anything about it.

Done. L3 day 26 reporting it. Felt good after yesterday's stretch!

@HappyEverIftar well done! Welcome to the Shredding community

I use 2kgs (started with 1kg). You're doing fantastically well with 3kgs as that's a significant uplift! My arms scream at the end of third set too. I think that's how it's meant to be with any weights.

I wouldn't worry personally about nailing anything. The workout is designed that you move up a level after 10 days and I trust Jillian. It's a process (as wanky as it sounds). I for one know that I can get comfortable in a level ie. I stop working as hard as I know what’s coming so switching the level always brings new challenge. I've been shredding for over a year on and off and I just got better at every level day by day. Having said all that, in my humble opinion the ones definitely worth perfecting are the lunges. I did a separate lunge technique training as the lunges done badly can do in your knees. I YouTubed lunge techniques and then did it a couple of times to get them right with DP watching to correct me.

Thank you clearsommespace and affectionincoldclimate

I bought some 3kgs in a sale last week so I don't have a big range. It's those or a tin of beans Grin

Interesting about the lunges - it is my worst exercise, give me 10 mins of jumping jacks or squats over 3 mins of lunging, gah. But I will also look at technique as I don't want to do in my knees, thanks for the tip. I'll keep checking in. Wow day 26! That feels like a long way off...

@HappyEverIftar ha ha ha I know, right? I got pullled back into the challenge by being on the thread and third day in I was thinking: WTF have I done???

It goes quickly though. Before you know it, you'll be there too Smile

clearsommespace · 13/07/2018 07:10

Yes it's really important to get the lunges right and also make sure your knees point out rather than in for jumping jacks.
@mamahanji I'm sorry to hear that. I had never heard of that health problem. What can one do to prevent it getting worse?
L3 Day3 completed.
Rest day tomorrow.

L2D6 done - feeling pleased with myself as I really didn't want to do it, I wanted to lie on my bed and read a book! @HappyeverIftar, I'm terribly impressed by anyone who can do those anterior raises with 3kg: I'm using 1kg for all the exercises.

Back on C25K tomorrow morning with DD (we gave up last weekend as it was just too hot), and I'm going to a yoga class on Sunday evening - I think that may be the first organised exercise class I've been to since DD was born (she's now 8 Blush).

Report
NefretForth · 14/07/2018 09:19

And a much more successful run this morning - we've started C25K week 5 again and managed the first run with no trouble this time.

Well done. Rest day for me today. Good job too as I need to cycle into the city centre later and it's uphill on the way back. I really struggle after shredding as my thigh muscles are so tired.

L3 day 27 done!

Apologies for not reporting in yesterday. My period pains resulted in the sort of stabbing cramping pain I last had as a teenager and had a stomach ache on top. First time in the challenge wasn't up to it. Not even stretches.

All that said, as Jillian is fond of saying, I got back on the wagon today. As I'm holidaying with my Mum she took DD from me in the morning and I slept in and then Jillianed it

@clearsommespace - well done - love your consistency as it keeps me going!

@NefretForth - enjoy your yoga class. I always find these so grounding on body and soul.

@mamahanji That sounds awful. Hope you get it sorted soon

L3 D4 (day 24) complete. Faint pinprick of light at the end of the tunnel....

Starting to wonder about what to do next. I'm on holiday for 2 weeks in August so I don't think I'll do another 30 day challenge until September.

Another successful run - DD and I are doing much better this week than last. Yoga tonight!

clearsomespace, I'm not nearly as far along as you, but I'm also wondering what to do post-holiday (hoping to finish the Shred before going away in August.). Ripped in 30? I've done it before and it's good but hard.

Hi everyone, wasn't feeling too great Fri/Sat but better today to smash L1 D9!

Those lunges aren't getting any better, grr. I'm so wobbly! Used just one of the 3kg weights for the anterior raises bit and that felt much more do-able.

Well done everyone! Such dedication on the weekend Smile NefretForth May look up some yoga moves on YouTube to do in front of the Telly. Like a good stretch.

Level 3 Day 27 busted this afternoon while DD napped. Can't believe it's nearly the end. There is a distinct possibility I'll be travelling tomorrow and day after so may not be able to go anything. This is the most drawn out Shred ever Grin

Well done everyone! Not easy to do it in this heat. It's hot where I am too!

Yoga class was excellent! Really focused on stretching out tight areas rather than tying ourselves in (unachievable for me) knots. I feel much better for it and will try to squeeze it in for future weeks.

Wish I were dedicated @HappyEverIftar - I'm squeezing the exercise in at weekends because I've got no chance of doing it in the week. If I were really dedicated I'd get up and Shred before work. I used to for a while, but somehow can't motivate myself to any more.

Good job NefretForth my back aches most days, so yoga stretching helps relieve that a bit. I'm lucky where I live affectionincoldclimate I have air conditioning, I feel for those of you who don't so it's even more of an achievement to get this done.

L1 D10 done. Level two tomorrow!
