Single parent, no time but want to start!

Hi - I work full time, am a lone parent and can’t get out much in the evenings. But I want to get fitter (and slimmer)....

I’m thinking YouTube workouts at home might be the way to go, so can anyone recommend any good ones to start with? I’ve got some weights so maybe a mix of aerobic stuff and toning up.

Thanks!

I'm in the same situation and have worked out most mornings for the past two years using various different videos.

Jillian Michaels is my favourite but you have to buy those either on DVD or via iTunes. A good YouTube channel to follow is Body Fit by Amy or take a look at the BeFit channel, PopSugar or FitnessBlender. But with Jillian if you get the 30 Day Shred there's a natural progression through her other workouts and a great motivational FB page with monthly challenges.

I use body fit by Amy. Great videos.

I just started doing the Joe Wicks DVD after years of no exercise.
Highly recommend - I have very little time but it's 25mins long including warm up/warm down and I'm managing to fit it in.

I use the Davina McColl HIIT workouts (downloaded on my iPad).
Each workout is just 7 minutes.
I start by using her 10 minute warm up which is on you tube, then one or two of the HIITs.
Sometimes I'll do the Emily Sky weights stuff (on You Tube) for a change.

Fitness blender have a huge variety of videos- both cardio and ones that need weights/strength. They are a very engaging and natural husband and wife team (with occasional appearances from the family dog!). All videos are free so you can devise your own timetable to fit around your schedule. They do sell programmes (which I've not used but I understand to be the free videos 'curated' to target specific things (weight loss; strength; glutes etc)

Can you get out at lunchtimes or in the mornings? IME it's much easier to commit to exercise that gets you out of the house, eg a run at lunchtime or in the daytime if you don't work/work funny hours.

I absolutely love exercise but find it hard to commit to doing it in the evenings, and I also find it hard to stick to 'at home' workouts as I just think I can't be bothered.

Fitness Blender.
Yoga with Adriene.
Popsugar.

All on you tube and have 10 - 60 min routines.

I'm another Jillian Michaels and Davina fan. I combine those, plus a couple of very 90s, but very good, step DVDs I have.

Exercising with a DVD after the DCs are asleep is by far the most sustainable solution for me. I'd prefer to get it out of the way in the morning before they're up so I could have a guilt-free slob on the sofa in the evening, but I'm already up at 5:45am as it is to get to work. Don't think I could do it!
