Best exercise to slim down bum & thighs?

I always put weight on my bum and thighs while my upper body and tummy remain unchanged.

I've lost a bit of weight on slimming world but have more to do.

I try to go to the gym regularly and mostly do body pump, spin, core/circuits and while I've definitely noticed a difference in my upper body especially my arms but no difference at all in my legs. I also am doing couch to 5k again- currently at week 5 but been struggling with a horrid cold so not done much recently.

I'm about to sign up to an 8 week group boot camp in January but wondered what I can work on in the meantime that will hopefully help me make some improvements!

Walking is fab for bum and thighs. Particularly if you clench your bum as you walk.

Squats. Loads and loads of squats.

You're doing a lot of great, toning exercise! Are you lifting heavy in body pump? I think you need to really load up the bar for the squat track to feel it in your legs.

I find a hard yoga vinyasa flow class really gets my thighs and bum.

Walking - with purpose - is great; gentle on the knees, fresh air, calorie burning goodness Smile. Also a diet really low in sugar will help...it's just so flippin tough though!

Squats won't slim. They'll tone. I have seriously improved my thighs and backside and my cellulite by squatting. But I have gone up a trouser size despite looking better!

Running.you need to burn fat before squats will work

You can't spot reduce fat - losing weight means you'll lose weight all over.

Squats, lunges and hill walking will tone your legs and bum and help change the actual shape.

Yeah bobbinthreadbare123 is right, squats and weights will build muscle and tone thighs and bum so you’ll have legs and buns of steel but that doesn’t mean they’ll be slimmer (with this type of excercise you’d have a high protein consumption a moderate veg consumption and a small carb consumption) Walking and jogging or any cardio excercise will help to lose weight and not neccisarily gain muscle but will slightly tone legs and bum (this diet would be heavy in veg for fewer calories, moderate protein and small portions of carbs) If you want a big peachy pert bum it’s squats, weights and protein shakes all the way ;)

Thanks all! Buzz, I could lift more for the squat track but I only started BP a couple of months ago and I don't yet know all the releases and the instructor likes to mix them up so I'm always reluctant to put too much on the bar because of how difficult it is to then change it so I have been focusing on getting deeper into the squats.

I've also got some kettle bells at home so will get back into doing some work with them on the days I can't get to the gym.

Keep losing weight and building base muscle. Once you’re at target, start with serious squats.

Unfortunately you can't choose where to lose weight. The weight distribution on your body is genetic and you can't change it, although you can lose weight generally if you run at a calorie deficit.
You can tone up your legs with squats and your bum with deadlifts.

You're already doing a whole load of cardio so not much to add there! For me, the weight dropped off my thighs and bum when I was really strict and low carbing. Literally dropped off within a few weeks. I'm now at the point where I'm squatting, lunging, doing deadlifts and weights in an effort to get my bum back!

I find consistently doing yoga really helps with leg and arm fat although it's not cardio so adding running with it would be amazing :)
