Quick help needed! Present for a runner tomorrow

DH and ds have just started running and for Christmas I’d like to get dh something (fitbit-esque) that they can record their routes/times/pace etc. Anybody got any suggestions? I was hoping to get something online in the dreadful Black Friday sales tomorrow.

Thanks.

Running watches like Garmin and TomTom are very good; they have a variety of features depending on what you pay, but even basic models will record pace, allow you to set goals and program different sessions etc. I have a TomTom runner which I get on well with, many people are keen on Garmin.

All the more serious runners I know have Garmins, but I don't know which versions.

The other thing to think about getting them is proper running socks - Stance have Star Wars themed ones at the moment.

Actual black Friday is next Friday although the sales seem to start earlier now

Oh yes! I’ve been fooled by amazon Blush

I’ll have a look into Garmin and TomTom.

Didn’t think about socks which is stupid as I have walking boots which are uncomfortable without walking socks and fine with so I know they make a difference, thanks!

Depends how serious they are, as PP said proper serious runners I know have Garmins, but most recreational runners/plodders (like me!), are happy with Fitbit’s (I’ve recently got an Apple Watch, which I have to say, I’m REALLY pleased with, but I got it through my Work health insurance, so was heavily subsidised - and if I do a certain level of exercise over 2 years will be free - I don’t know if I would have paid full price for it over a decent Fitbit.

I would also appreciate proper running socks (twin skins), something to carry my phone and keys in (but I think it’s easier for boys, they have proper pockets. We have to make due with another accessory), or good sweat wicking running kit. Oh and fantastic Bluetooth wireless headphones too. And always more trainers. It can all get a bit expensive Grin

Tom Tom runner/Spark 3 is good as it talks to Strava and is quick to lock on. I have the cardio which has a heart rate monitor
