Exercise

Advice- Struggling with regular exercise routine

I'd love some advice! I'm struggling to be motivated to exercise at the moment- I'm a bit perimenopausal which affects my energy (I'm 44) plus I'm just tired from daily life/kids/job. I love exercising though & have run half marathons in the past & want to get fit again. At the moment I think I could manage:
Davina dvds in the mornings maybe 4 days a week- like the new quick ones like 5 week fit and a run at weekend- sat/sun of about 4-5km.

How do you fit exercise into your day?
When do you exercise?
Are mornings good?

Do you think Davina is good exercise?

I don't know about Davina so I can't make any comments on that front.

I work in a very high-pressure environment, and I find that early morning runs are perfect for me. Basically what I do these days is get up at 06:00, join my running group at 06:30 (we're on a thrice a week schedule), and then by anywhere from 07:30 to 08:00 I'd be able to continue with my daily activities as per normal.

How long would 5km take you? Possible to squeeze into your lunch break?

I run whenever my work allows (I keep my own hours/time). I mostly go out in the late afternoons, around 4pm. If I want to run longer than 10k, I'll go out a bit earlier. My day is very "fits and starts" though - it's not uncommon for me to be in work for 12 hour days, but with a two hour gap at some point.

I try to fit exercise in when my oldest daughter is doing her clubs. So I swim when she is swim training in the evening as they still have public lanes up. I run for 45mins when she trains on another evening finishing when she does, so my DH is at home with other DD. I also do a longer run early at weekend so I’m finished by 9am and it doesn’t interrupt family life. My DH and I tag team each other so he also gets 2-3 opportunities a week to exercise sometimes by cycling to work, we work as a team as we know that both of us are a lot happier if we get exercise head space time Smile

I meant to say I’m the same age OP and I’ve overhauled my diet this year going for lower carb and less sugar this has boosted my energy levels and done lots of reading on the menopause talk board etc I’m taking supplements and exploring HRT options as the peri-period can massively effect how you feel & energy levels so I’ve got lots of sympathy it can feel utterly sh*t at times!
