Single mum needing to lose weight, unable to attend a gym or go running as have no-one to look after my child (I work full time), any ideas what I could do that works? What do you do, how long and how much weight have you lost?

I bought a treadmill. Lost about a stone and a half in six months. Combined it with a healthy diet, or tried to, but it was the proper exercise that shifted the weight. I found it on a Facebook selling page for about £50, I think.

I used to go jogging/walking with DS in the buggy. I didn't get a fancy runny buggy, just a normal one.

Look at what you are eating, I have swapped my evening snacks of crisps, biscuits and chocolate for carrot sticks, peppers, celery and slimming world hummus (I don't actually do slimming world but I do use lots of their recipes)

Fitness Blender (free fitness videos, loads of variety). Might want to invest in some weights though. 30 Day Shred good too (but can be quite hard on the knees).

I like 7 minute workout apps. I am very lazy.

DVDs - Davina is my favourite as so easy to follow and they work you hard. I lost 4 stone using these a few years ago (plus a diet of course). I also use Les Mills On Demand which is £10 a month and has loads of videos that get updated all the time. Its much more hardcore though so you might want to build up some fitness.

Oh and I did Davina every day for one hour (one day off a week).

If I were in your position I would do Zumba workouts from you tube in front of the TV in the evenings.

I'm currently using the Jillian Michaels app - it's similar to the shred in that you do a mix of difference HIIT exercises, but it mixes it up and changes it each day, plus you can adapt it to your own level.

There are lots of different regimes e.g. just starting, post partum, last 10 lbs etc.

I find it really easy to use as the one I'm doing is only 25 minutes, and so I can plan when to slot it in the day.

I have a Fitbit and get competitive about steps trying to do as many challenges as possible. If I haven't reached my target by the evening I do some just dance on the wii which is a good workout and gives about 300-500 steps per song. If i am feeling unmotivated I tell myself I'll do one song only but inevitably end up doing more once I get into it (also it stops my evening eating)

Can anyone recommend (short) apps or Youtubes for weights/beginner level?
