Anyone else had an inflamed peroneal tendon?

I've hurt mine through running a HM on too little training, on a very cold and wet day Sad Two weeks of rest and physio hasn't helped - after a slow and careful parkrun yesterday, my outer foot is aching like buggery.

If you have had this, what worked in terms of treatment? And how long did it take to get better?

Thanks in advance!

I had peroneal tenosynovitis back in October after doing 45km along a very rocky canal path. The next morning I woke up to a very swollen, Bruised outer foot/ ankle. After a trip to the hospital I ended up in an air boot and crutches for 4 weeks (the Dr originally wanted to put it in a backslab cast, but agreed to the boot as long as I behaved!) after the four weeks I returned to gentle exercise, and now touch wood have no resulting pain.

DS gets this if he does a long hike. It looks as though half a golf ball has been stuck on his ankle joint. The GP gas said the only permanent solution is surgery, to stop the tendon rubbing over the bone. For now, he uses Voltarol gel if it flares up.
