Fitbit Questions

Hi. I've been thinking about getting a Fitbit but have a few questions about it before I buy. I wonder if anybody with one already can help me?
Is it true it doesn't pick up the exercise you do on an exercise bike?
I use MFP, is it basically the same, ie, calories in, exercise, etc?
How do you input what you've eaten?
Do you need a Smartphone or mobile to use it?
Many thanks if you can help me out with some answers.

It doesn't pick up exercise done whilst I am at a Spin class as it is on my wrist which hardly moves, so I image the same for a normal exercise bike - you would need to move the tracker into your sock or something - but you can manually add in exercise afterwards.

The food tracker is a bit like MFP (but I don't really use that bit). I've just opened it up and there is a barcode scanner plus you can search for food.

You can like it to an iPad and you can link to a laptop using the supplied dongle.

You can link it to MFP easy enough. The app helps you do the challenges etc but don't need the app can just look at your Fitbit for step count. Can add activities into the app that wouldn't have Fitbit ok for e.g. Swimming. I have a Fitbit one that I clip to my bra as have a job where sat down but moving my arms a lot and didn't want false readings. Love mine!

Thanks for the heads up kshaw. I must admit I'm very tempted. Argos have them with £10.00 off at the moment.
Thanks again peeps. Smile
