Fitbit - Question about build quality!

I bought a Charge a couple of years ago that disintegrated pretty quickly. The rubber casing around the face peeled away and then the strap split. Within 12 months I had gone through 4 (free replacements) but when the 4th died I couldn't really be bothered getting another one Blush

I had issues such as them not retaining a charge for more than a few hours, split straps, dying without the warning for low charge, etc.

I didn't do anything untoward with them, I took them off to shower etc, and worked in an office so no rough and tumble other than basic gym workouts.

Just wondering if anyone has purchased a newer model recently and had any similar experiences! I'm quite interested in getting another one (I did find it useful, and I have piled on weight in the last year) but don't want to waste the money if they're still a bit ropey!

I have a blaze. Have had it for about a year. I wear it for sweaty workouts and day to day stuff. No issues with straps or bits falling off. Battery life is about 3 days, 2 if I'm looking at it / fiddling with it constantly. I had the first charge HR and the battery life on that was much better - around 7 days, but the Blaze is a fancier machine (does more and has a colour display so needs more processing power).

I have had the charge hr and the surge. Didn't do anything mad to them and got through several replacements of both, never any quibbles but still a pain! Upgraded to Apple Watch and no problems at all!

charge hr is exactly the same, and am on 4th free replacement here

I have a Fitbit Alta. Wore it every day since 1st May last year. My battery life is about 5-6 days. I've had no issues, I've once accidentally wore it in the shower, worked fine after.

I wear it to rugby training, so it has been put through a rough test ha! X

DD's fitbit has broken, less than a year old. Has just fallen apart. And can I find the bloody receipt???

FinallyHere · 23/02/2017 15:22

I have heard good things about Fitbit's customer service, so you may not need an actual receipt. Worth a try.

BaDumShh · 23/02/2017 15:25

CQ I recently got a free replacement without the receipt. Just message them on their customer service page and attach a pic. They emailed me to ask the date I bought it and where I bought it from. That was it - replacement sent in 4 days.

CQ · 23/02/2017 15:37

Thanks Finally I should have a go.

CQ · 23/02/2017 15:39

Wow BaDum that's amazing, I'll definitely have a go.

Love the name - I have to add 'I'm here all week' Grin

CQ the clip broke on my One. I contacted customer services. They asked for the details of where I bought it from and they sent me a replacement free of charge.

LozzaChops101 · 23/02/2017 15:47

I offered to send receipts and they said it wasn't necessary, I think they can tell when you registered the thing on your FitBit account or something

and they're so aware of the shite quality of their product that they probably just take yer word for it

Thank you for everyone's replies! Mixed bag on quality eh? I was looking into the Charge 2, still in two minds!

If only I could remember where I bought it Confused

Have searched the Amazon account, and the JL one and no record. I probably left it till last minute as usual and bought it from whoever had one in stock.......

LozzaChops101 · 23/02/2017 15:59

CQ - I don't think they even asked me that, they seem to be able to tell from your fitbit account. I've found the email for the first replacement (dead one came from Argos, not Fitbit directly) I had and this is what they asked for:

How do you all find the monitoring with Fitbit HR? the new replacement I've just set up is brutal - just done a really tough class and it hasn't registered ANY active minutes at all! When HR goes over 160, it measures as 68/72 etc instead of 168/172 etc!

chipsandpeas · 26/02/2017 11:08

im on my 2nd charge hr the first was replaced by john lewis as a update made it stick
the 2nd still works fine except i had to glue the charging socket back in due to me pulling it out to hard

CantstandmLMs · 26/02/2017 11:08

I have the Blaze and it is very well built. The interchangeable straps (also on the new Alta and charge 2) make a difference as I have various straps for different things. Even have different coloured frames which I love.
The problem with the old models was you couldn't change the strap and they tended to bubble making the whole thing useless.
Fitbit' customer care is brilliant and they will replace anything but think they relalised seperate straps is a sensible thing!

By the way the Blaze isn't advertised as waterproof at all but I never take it off and it is! Started on holiday when I forgot to take it off in the pool but it was fine now I swim, bath with it no problem.

londonmummy1966 · 26/02/2017 18:23

I just have the basic one - had a couple of problems with it dropping a run or two so I emailed customer support (mine was a gift so no receipt) and they sent me out a new one no questions asked as they could see it was linked to my google account. Even asked me whether I wanted a different colour as I hadn't been able to choose for myself....

Don't find it easy to get the replacement batteries though as the basic model doesn't recharge.
