Starting today .........!

Yep! I've been really lazy last year and have been using the car far too much. Is that the tag for the Facebook page?

Some people, like me, are going to count all their miles.
Others just their 'boots on'miles.

Hi I saw this on FB earlier and signed up smile I'm going to aim for 3 miles a day so I have a bit of leeway for days where I don't get time to walk. Doing first one tomorrow as I'm too hungover today grin.

I'm in! Including things like the school run and my running, it should be possible.

I'm a frustrated, lapsed hiker due to young DCs who are too big to carry and don't quite have the stamina to do it themselves yet (although DS1 is working on it). Most of the mums have taken up running instead!

I'm in too! Added issue for me is that I suffer from anxiety and agoraphobia so on a lot of days just leaving the house is an issue for me but I thought doing this with others might spur me on, So today I managed a 1000 steps outside and the rest marching round the house and garden and hope I can build from there. As an added incentive I am going to put a pound in a pot for every 5 miles I manage so a nice bonus at the end if I get there

Bin85 Sun 01-Jan-17 19:08:41

Everyone is very welcome .
It spurred me on to do a walk today despite heavy rain!
Borrowed DH's waterproof trousers so didn't get too soaked

furrymuff Sun 01-Jan-17 19:12:14

I got soaked on my first walk of the year today too bin! But managed 3.5 miles so happy with that. It's a very friendly and supportive FB group - good to read others adventures! Am looking forward to this challenge.

I'm doing this. But doesn't it work out as an average of 2.74 miles a day?
Have done 5 so far today so feeling pleased.

ladyballs Sun 01-Jan-17 19:19:53

I'm in

Salobrena Sun 01-Jan-17 19:24:19

I am doing this too.

Bin85 Sun 01-Jan-17 19:26:49

Welcome all.
The Facebook group has gone crazy, might have to unfollow soon and just look at it from time to time as there are so many posts .

TwoLeftSocks Sun 01-Jan-17 19:27:33

Yes, I'm in. This is exactly my kind of exercise (also a lapsed hiker due to children) and I really could do with losing a but of weight.

Is the average about 20 miles a week?

Bin85 Sun 01-Jan-17 19:28:22

I make that about 13 of us so far.

SubordinateThatClause Sun 01-Jan-17 19:30:10

I'm in - not sure how I'm going to fit in 2.74 miles a day when working full time with 2 kids but if you don't aim high!!!

TwoLeftSocks Sun 01-Jan-17 19:45:30

I'm thinking about having a walk out after dinner, feel like I've been stuck indoors to many days and I do love walking in the dark.

YoureMyWifeNowDave Sun 01-Jan-17 21:04:06

I've just joined too grin I haven't done much today 1.21miles according to my Fitbit blush but have been at MIL's all afternoon and am now lying in bed trying to get DD to sleep

Must try harder tomorrow!
